Many dogs never get the chance to see the light of day simply because their rescuers arrive too late!
Because of stringent shelter regulations, countless dogs face dire fates before they even get a glimpse of the outside world.
Stormi was one such dog, teetering on the brink of euthanasia.
Her rescuers had until 2 p.m. to save her, and with the clock ticking, they were determined to act swiftly…
A Timely Rescue
Lisa Chiarelli from Frankie, Lola and Friends in California, alongside her friend Karla, was committed to saving Stormi’s life. After discovering this heavily pregnant pup was slated for euthanasia, they raced to the shelter and, fortunately, arrived just in time!
“The shelter gave this sweet girl until 2:00 PM today to be rescued. @lisachiarelli and I couldn’t stop thinking about her… We couldn’t let this be her final chapter and that of her puppies,” Karla shared on Instagram.
They arrived at the shelter in California just 47 minutes before her scheduled euthanasia, and Stormi was beyond grateful!
As she jumped into her rescuers’ car, it marked one of the happiest moments of her life. Despite the discomfort from carrying a litter, Stormi instinctively sensed that everything was about to change for the better.
She found a temporary home with Karla and her wonderful pack of foster dogs.
In the initial days, Stormi was kept in a separate area of the house, exploring her new surroundings. Her foster siblings would come by to sniff her out, but that was about it.
Karla aimed to ensure that this soon-to-be mom felt comfortable in her new environment before introducing her to the others. Yet, Stormi showed she was inherently friendly and welcomed company!
The Big Arrival
The awaited moment arrived, and Stormi welcomed eight beautiful puppies into the world!
This was more than Karla and Lisa had anticipated, but they were overwhelmed with joy seeing Stormi embrace motherhood. With her new role came a transformation in her personality!
Unlike some of Karla’s past fosters, Stormi naturally blossomed into an incredible mother. She devoted herself to her pups, going into protective mode. For several weeks, she remained in a puppy room, separated from other dogs, allowing her to relax completely.
During those weeks, Stormi mastered the skills of feeding, nursing, and keeping her babies warm and snug. Most importantly, she discovered the profound essence of a mother’s love!
Once her puppies were ready to experience the world outside, Stormi astonished everyone yet again!
She began to behave like a puppy herself, enjoying endless playtime with other dogs. Her time in foster care was so enjoyable, and she definitely started to regain her trust!
Along with her pack, especially her favorite Anna, a blind Pittie, Stormi truly lived her best life!
A New Chapter
The turning point in Stormi’s life occurred a few weeks post-rescue!
A wonderful family with two children contacted her caregivers, eager to meet the brave mom. And then, the magic happened!
It was love at first sight, leading to one wonderful outcome—Stormi found her forever family!
Together with her puppies, who also embarked on their own adventures, Stormi turned the page to a fresh chapter in her life!
Finally, she could express her true self in a loving home, far away from shelter life.
Stormi is now cherished as the princess of her new family, her companion, and friend. After all the struggles she overcame, she’s at last in the place she longed for her entire life!
