Pregnant Dog Fears Seeking Help While Wandering California Streets, But Then A Miraculous Turn Occurs

Date:

Sometimes we all need a little push, and so did this soon-to-be mama dog roaming the dangerous streets of Southern California. She wandered for months, searching for a safe place to deliver her puppies, but she always returned to the same old streets, desperately needing help yet too scared to accept it. Constantly running away from humans, she couldn’t trust even the friendliest hands.

Neighbors Tried To Help

When Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy rescue in Irvine, California, received a call about the dog, she knew she had to intervene. Hall and her team couldn’t allow the mama dog to deliver her puppies alone on the streets. Heading to the location, Hall was aware that this rescue might be challenging since neighbors noted the dog was traumatized and refused help.

The dog always managed to escape any interaction with humans, yet she returned to the streets searching for food. When Hall finally spotted her, the dog took off once again. Adapting her strategy, Hall placed a humane trap filled with tasty food nearby, hoping the sweet mama would cautiously step inside.

To her surprise, within moments, the dog entered the trap, clearly in need of nourishment, and was safe in no time.

“She would run if you looked at her, but when I opened the can of chicken, she froze and immediately started coming towards my trap. It wasn’t long before we had her safe,” Hall shared on her Facebook account.

Here Comes The Litter

Though it took her some time to feel comfortable around her rescuers, the pooch eventually showed her true self: a sweet, gentle mama with no mean bone in her body. Thanks to Hall and her volunteers, she found a safe place with Alix Levy Smith at Second Leash On Life, where she finally learned the true meaning of love and comfort.

And now for the big reveal! The night before Thanksgiving, the mama surprised her caregivers with the sweetest gift: her five little puppies.

“Well look at this, the night before Thanksgiving she gave birth to 4 boys and 1 girl in a warm home. Sweet mama, your family is beautiful,” Hall wrote.

Thanks to the selfless efforts of everyone involved, this sweet dog brought her pups into a safe space surrounded by love and all the necessary resources for proper nursing. She’s now embracing her new role in life and seems like a natural at motherhood!

Good luck, mama, and happy nursing!
