Hidden behind their fierce looks and considerable size is often a kind heart yearning for affection.
This was the reality for King Tut, a dog who spent nearly 150 days in a Kansas City shelter. Ever since being surrendered by his former family, this seemingly menacing Pittie was on a quest for companionship.
What he didn’t yet realize was that a remarkable transformation awaited him – one that would change his life forever!
Introducing King Tut
King Tut’s past was anything but easy. After being left at KC Pet Project in Kansas City, he struggled with intense anxiety and stress.
All this gentle giant desired was a loving family and room to roam, yet his circumstances were far from that. Then, one transformative day, Chris, a devoted foster, came to the shelter and everything shifted!
“He had been there for over 150 days. I fell in love. He had such a wiggly little body. With him being so stressed in the kennel, I wanted to get him out as soon as possible,” Chris shared with The Dodo.
The instant connection was undeniable – Tut had found his new foster dad!
After hearing King Tut’s heartbreaking backstory, Chris committed to supporting him for as long as necessary. To his surprise, he would discover that he was caring for an affectionate lovebug!
Creating a New Routine
King Tut adjusted to his foster home like a true king! Beneath his robust exterior lay a sweet soul seeking devotion from his dad.
Chris was amazed at King Tut’s loving disposition and his behavior as a true lap dog. They began spending all their time together, even establishing a cozy morning routine.
“We began doing almost everything together. Even my daily rituals, like getting ready… I see him as my partner in crime,” Chris explains.
It soon became clear that there was almost nothing Chris could do without King Tut wanting to join in. Whenever Chris brushed his hair, prepared for the day, or even settled down with a book, King Tut was right there!
This loyal pup loved being a part of Chris’s daily rituals, and the way he stayed by his side at all times brought immense joy to Chris.
The Cuddly Couch Potato
But what truly delights King Tut is taking long, comforting naps on the couch (often sprawled in his dad’s lap). While they enjoyed a range of activities together, this special routine is undoubtedly his favorite! It’s safe to say that King Tut epitomizes the sweetest couch potato.
Ultimately, bittersweet times arrived a few months later. After a joyful journey in Chris’s home, King Tut transitioned to a new foster home, paving the way for his forever family!
“King Tut went to his new foster this afternoon. If you happened to see a grown man quietly weeping in the shelter today, that was me,” Chris posted on Instagram.
Chris was deeply thankful to witness King Tut begin a new adventure towards a permanent home. Although initially heartbroken to say goodbye to his friend, he felt immense joy knowing Tut received yet another chance at life.
“I just received a message from the adopter a few days ago, and she shared that she is completely enamored with him. He is leading a very happy life,” he recounted in an Instagram post.
Thanks to his extraordinary foster dad, King Tut has finally found where he truly belongs – in a warm, loving home surrounded by individuals who will cherish him forever!
