Pennsylvania Shelter Pup Shows Heartfelt Gratitude to Volunteer for Their Outings

Date:

Pongo was a young pup when he faced betrayal from the one he trusted most—his owner abandoned him at an apartment without a word or goodbye. Confused and heartbroken, Pongo longed for his owner’s presence. Thankfully, the landlord discovered him and brought him to Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, a shelter in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, where the compassionate staff embraced him with open hearts, reassuring him that better days were ahead.

Pongo Finds Human Friends

The dedicated shelter staff ensured Pongo received the love and care he needed, taking him on regular walks as he is an energetic three-year-old who thrives outdoors. Volunteer Danielle Baughman made it her mission to take him on little excursions, allowing him to release his pent-up energy and enjoy life beyond the shelter’s confines. Thanks to her, Pongo goes to parks and even plays with her cat at home. Recently, Baughman treated Pongo to a pool day where he swam with his best friend who had found a forever home.

Pongo shows his gratitude for the volunteer’s efforts with sweet kisses after each outing. Baughman leverages TikTok to share heartwarming moments from the shelter, hoping to attract potential adopters. She recently shared a touching clip of Pongo expressing his appreciation, which delighted viewers.

“He always says thank you for our adventures,” the caption on the screen read.

The heartwarming video shows Pongo resting his head on Baughman’s shoulder, showering her with kisses—a clear display of his gratitude.

Will Anyone Give Pongo A Home?

Pongo has spent nearly two years waiting at the shelter, enduring the challenge of finding a forever home. While he has drawn interest, he remains without a family. Nighttime at the shelter is especially hard for him; he dislikes solitude and often escapes his kennel in search of companionship, prompting the shelter to build him a special kennel for safety. Pongo is a people-lover and his excitement at seeing visitors often leads them to misinterpret his exuberance as a negative trait, diminishing his chances for adoption.

Even though he relishes his day trips with Baughman, he must always return to the confines of his kennel. Pongo is eager to find a loving family that will help him adjust over time. His ideal family would enjoy adventures together, keeping him active and engaged. Pongo remains hopeful that his perfect forever home is out there, ready to give him the second chance he deeply desires.
