When we begin our day, we rarely expect to become heroes. Yet, while a Good Samaritan was working on a property in Philadelphia, he thought it would be a routine day on the job. That changed when he spotted a discarded trash bag with something moving inside. Rushing over to investigate, he ripped open the bag and was utterly surprised by what he found.
Shocking Discovery
Inside, the worker discovered a white and tan Pittie in a very poor state. The terrified pup was completely stiff, unable to move his head or feet. With a heavy heart, the man gently lifted the dog from the bag and placed him on cardboard, covering his stiff body with a blanket for warmth. After ensuring the pup’s comfort, he contacted local authorities to report the situation and shared some food with the sweet boy, hoping he would eat.
The Pennsylvania SPCA responded promptly and quickly arrived at the scene to assist the pup. Once there, they wasted no time loading the dog, later named Codi, into their vehicle and transporting him to their facility. The condition of Codi puzzled the veterinarians, raising questions about how he became abandoned.
“What had happened to this poor soul? Why had he been discarded like trash?” they questioned in a Facebook post. The vets soon discovered that Codi could not stand on his own. They conducted numerous tests, ensuring he was fed and hydrated, then gently began to stretch and massage his limbs.
After some time, Codi was able to stand and even take his first careful steps. His rescuers were moved to tears at this progress, realizing these steps meant Codi was on his way to living a normal life surrounded by loving people. But they had no idea how quickly that day would come.
