When Nina Love, the founder of The Black Thornberry, an animal rescue in Philadelphia, received a call about a mysterious furry figure in the woods, she sprang into action. Upon arrival, she spotted a frightened dog, realizing it was scared of humans. To avoid scaring the pup further, Nina and her team maintained a safe distance and set up cameras to monitor her movements.
The Pup Is Safe

Though Love typically avoids using traps, she felt it was necessary for this situation. By observing the dog’s movements on the cameras, she determined the best spot for the trap. “I wanted to provide a safe place for her and a good food source, so I set the trap. I usually tend to avoid using traps, but for her safety, it felt like the right choice,” she explained to The Dodo.

The pup, although timid, became a focus for Love and her team. After a week of patience, she finally entered the crate, and Love’s heart soared upon seeing her in the trap. The dog appeared nervous and continued to shake, but with a soft voice, Love was able to calm her down.

Upon rescuing the dog, Love noticed the pup had two collars, which seemed unusual. She shared photos on social media to find out if anyone recognized her. A friend of Love’s linked the dog to a family searching for their missing pet, named Hannah, for two months. After comparing photos, the resemblance was undeniable.

Excited by the breakthrough, Love contacted the family with the joyful news. She learned Hannah’s owners had been devastated since their dog went missing from the park. The vet confirmed that Hannah had a microchip linked to her rightful owner, Ashley.
A Heartwarming Reunion

Love transported Hannah to reunite her with Ashley, who was overjoyed to finally have her beloved dog home. Grateful for Love’s efforts, she hugged Hannah tightly and welcomed her inside. Their emotional reunion included sweet snuggles and affectionate kisses, marking the end of a long separation.
Desperately missing Hannah, Ashley had searched shelters, distributed flyers, and combed through neighborhoods for the two months Hannah was gone. She had adopted Hannah from a shelter in South Carolina and, shortly after moving into their new home, the frightened dog had disappeared. Upon their reunion, Hannah needed time to settle back into her environment, receiving abundant love from Ashley’s family. After hearing her bark for the first time since the rescue, Ashley felt hopeful.
With unwavering support from her family, Hannah gradually overcame her fears, blossoming into the happy dog she was always meant to be, enjoying playtime with her dog siblings and cozying up with her loving family.

Hannah now embraces her life fully, relishing playtime with her doggy siblings and the warmth of her family. A heartfelt thank you goes to Nina Love for rescuing Hannah and reuniting her with her loving home.
