Pennsylvania Kid Spots Unusual Animal by the Fence and Takes Action

Date:

During their much-anticipated vacation time, a family of farm owners from Pennsylvania set out to relax and enjoy each other’s company. However, one of the children wandered off into the field and noticed something strange lying there. From a distance, it appeared to be an animal, but they couldn’t quite identify it. As the woman approached, she was stunned to discover it was an eagle lying in the field, prompting her to call the Raven Ridge Wildlife Center for assistance.

Rescuers Are On Their Way

After sending a picture, the center confirmed the woman’s suspicion: it was indeed a juvenile bald eagle. With this clarification, the rescuers quickly gathered their equipment and made their way to assist the family in capturing the eagle. Tracie Young, a worker at Raven Ridge Wildlife Center, arrived to find the eagle surprisingly calm, not resisting at all. Concerned, she noted that the bald eagle was missing many feathers, indicating that something might be wrong.

The Eagle Is Making A Recovery

Quickly transporting the eagle back to their center for a thorough examination, the staff discovered that he was suffering from lead poisoning, a common injury for animals struck by vehicles. Fortunately, the bird would be able to regrow his feathers and received the necessary treatment from his caring rescuers, who crafted an effective recovery plan tailored for him.

The bald eagle was on the path to recovery, housed in a flight cage to regain his ability to fly gradually. Given his previous condition, this was an important step towards his healing. Observers noted his robust appetite, and with timely treatment, he is expected to make a complete recovery and return to the wild in a few months. Until then, he will remain in the compassionate care of the dedicated team at Raven Ridge Wildlife Center, receiving the finest care possible.
