How heartbreaking it is to see a dog forced to leave its cherished home after so many years! Those little four-legged furballs, looking so confused and sad as they try to adjust to a shelter, truly break my heart. Recently, I was particularly moved by Jade’s story.
After more than a decade with a loving family, this sweet black dog lost the only home she had known when her family became homeless. Suddenly, Jade found herself in a kennel, completely shut down, struggling to cope with her new reality and missing the comfort of her previous life. Just when all hope seemed lost, a miracle appeared in the form of a kind human!
Left At The Shelter For Good
The compassionate folks at Philly Rescue Angels in Philadelphia made every effort to make Jade’s stay as comfortable as possible, but at fourteen years old and with no experience in a shelter environment, their resources were limited.
“Jade is a sweet senior who was surrendered to a high intake shelter when her owner became homeless. Being 14 years old, and a black bully breed, we knew her chances to make it out alive were slim,” the rescue shared on Instagram.
Jade seemed extremely depressed upon arrival, barely lifting her head. Coupled with her advanced arthritis and tooth decay, her condition appeared dire. Given her age and breed, few believed she would ever find a home again. But then, a beacon of hope emerged!
A woman named Alisyn Davidson and her partner became aware of Jade’s plight and immediately took action. They had previously fostered from this Pennsylvania shelter and felt it was time to help again.
Light At The End Of The Tunnel
As soon as Alisyn approached Jade, her eyes sparkled with hope, and when she stepped into the car, her excitement was palpable. That day marked the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in Jade’s life, and she couldn’t have been more thrilled. Within days, she transformed into a joyful pup, eager to embrace her newfound happiness.
Jade seamlessly integrated into her new family and formed a loving bond with Alisyn’s other pets—a dog and a cat. She became unrecognizable, filled with enthusiasm despite her age, and it was heartwarming to witness this once-surrendered dog emerge from her shell beautifully.
Not only did she heal from the pain of abandonment, but she embraced her new beginning with open paws!
While Jade’s journey began as a fostering situation, Alisyn and her partner couldn’t bear to let her feel abandoned again. Thus, they made the heartfelt decision to provide Jade with a permanent home.
“We could all use some good news, and we are happy to announce Jade has been picked up from the shelter and is safe in a foster home,” the rescue shared in an Instagram update.
Who could have predicted that a 14-year-old dog would find a new home days after being abandoned? Yet, it happened—thanks to Jade’s new pawrents!
Today, Jade enjoys her well-deserved retirement far away from the shelter. Her golden years are filled with endless love, cuddles, and playtime—everything every dog deserves!
