A loving forever home is the ultimate dream of shelter dogs, and it’s the only thing that can truly bring them happiness. They are willing to do anything in their power to find human companions who cherish them and bestow love and care upon them daily.
Toby was among the fortunate pups who discovered his new family just days after entering Seattle Humane. This charming little furball captivated the hearts of every staff member at the shelter.
The Beautiful Dog Returns to the Shelter
Living with his new family made Toby feel like the happiest dog alive.
He experienced unconditional love and care. He believed wholeheartedly that he had found his forever home.
Sadly, his 83-year-old owner faced health challenges that made it impossible for him to continue caring for Toby, forcing him to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender his beloved dog to the shelter.
He hoped Toby would find a loving new family capable of giving him the care he could no longer provide. After spending a decade with his cherished owner, Toby found himself at the shelter gates once more.
The Seattle Humane staff were devastated to learn of Toby’s return.
The kind-hearted dog was confused by his return to the shelter. Even though he was glad to reconnect with his shelter friends, he kept hoping to see the familiar face of his loving owner.
Toby Aspires to Find His Forever Family
The shelter staff and volunteers enveloped him in affection, striving to uplift his spirits. They took him on joyful walks and offered him plenty of cuddles. With their love and care, Toby regained his happiness and began to hope for a new family.
Since his return to the shelter on May 31, 2023, he has spent some time in temporary foster homes. Even though there was interest in Toby, no one has yet brought him home.
Brandon Macz, the shelter’s PR and social media coordinator, remains optimistic that Toby’s age will not stand in the way of finding him a permanent home.
“Individuals with experience in caring for senior pets understand that they are incredibly loving, calmer, and often have well-established training and personalities that are less likely to change over time, contrary to younger pets,” stated Macz.
During his stay in the shelter, Toby spreads joy by showering his caretakers with affectionate kisses and brightening their days with his cheerful smile.
