Many dogs bark at everything they see, which often leads their owners to ignore it. Shelly Lisi, living in rural New Jersey with a farm field on one side and a horse farm on the other, is accustomed to her two dogs “calling” out when animals pass by, usually resulting in the animals fleeing and the barking stopping.
However, this time was different. The dogs continued barking, prompting Lisi to investigate. To her surprise, she found them surrounding a tiny intruder.
Tiny Intruder
The barking went on for almost twenty minutes, indicating to Lisi that something unusual was happening. When she stepped outside, she discovered her two dogs encircling a cute little kitten that had not moved from its spot in the grass, which perplexed the dogs and incited their persistent barking.
Fortunately, Lisi managed to stabilize the situation.
“I was a little alarmed, and the kitten was quite frightened but feisty,” Lisi shared with The Dodo “As soon as I got out there, the dogs calmed down — they were more curious than anything. I was able to pick up the kitten and we got him into a crate in our garage so we could look him over.”
Lisi immediately began searching for the kitten’s family, going from neighbor to neighbor and reviewing outdoor camera footage, but she found nothing. Despite the unexpected circumstances, the future of the kitten began to become clearer.
His New Home
Unaware of the kitten’s background, Lisi was initially unsure of his health condition. Fortunately, aside from being slightly underweight, he was perfectly fine. Initially a bit tense in his new surroundings, he eventually relaxed and revealed his charming personality.
Lisi’s family quickly fell in love with him, and he got along well with the dogs. This newfound harmony led Lisi to make a heartfelt decision – she adopted the kitten.
