Owner Marks Reunion with Her Missing Dog by Taking Down All ‘Lost Dog’ Posters

Date:

Every dog parent can relate to the overwhelming heartbreak of even contemplating the loss of their furry companion.

The connection between a dog and its owner is incredibly profound. When this unique bond is severed, the anguish felt by the owner is indescribable.

When a puppy goes missing, their owner will do everything within their power to bring them home—whether it’s sharing photos on social media or inundating the neighborhood with fliers.

But have you ever considered what ultimately happens to those fliers once the dog is reunited with their family?

One Sunday afternoon, Perla Vanessa experienced a moment of panic when she noticed that something was off. It didn’t take her long to realize that her dog, Leia, was missing.

“In the ten years I’ve had her, this has never happened, but it only takes one time to leave a mark,” Vanessa shared in a TikTok video.

Vanessa recounted that when Leia escaped, she was not wearing the collar containing her Airtag, leaving no way for anyone to identify her owner.

Determined to find her pup, Vanessa began posting flyers throughout her neighborhood in hopes that someone would recognize Leia and reach out.

“By Sunday afternoon and into Sunday night, I was crying uncontrollably. I was running around the block frantically, putting up posters and asking neighbors if they’d seen her,” she added.

The most surprising news Vanessa received was that everybody had indeed seen Leia. Neighbors told her that the playful pup had been enjoying fun rendezvous in their yards.

“Leia is microchipped, but that doesn’t guarantee she would be taken to a shelter. By Monday afternoon, I was a wreck, crying hysterically and worrying my family,” she admitted.

Fortunately, all of Vanessa’s hard work on the flyers paid off when a neighbor who had been caring for Leia recognized her poster.

The neighbor explained that they had kept Leia since Sunday evening but had been unsure whom to call. As they prepared to take her to the shelter, they spotted the posters.

With Leia finally back in Vanessa’s caring arms, it was time to remove all the missing posters.

And who better to help than Leia herself!

Leia was joyfully by her owner’s side, looking completely carefree and unaware of the distress she caused.

However, it’s clear Vanessa wouldn’t hold any grudges as what truly matters is that Leia is back home.“Now that she’s home, she’s never leaving my side again,” Vanessa concluded.
