Sadly, a dog named Harvey grew up in an atmosphere that didn’t allow him to enjoy the freedoms a puppy should.
Fortunately, he eventually met two humans who transformed his life into the best one imaginable!
A Pup Named Harvey
Prior to finding his forever home, Harvey was a family pet battling severe separation anxiety.
His original owners, unaware of how to manage his condition, thought chaining him outside and isolating him from others was an effective solution.
Harvey endured nearly a year of confinement before being brought to a shelter in Oregon in hopes of finding a new family.
Eventually, a kind individual came to the shelter seeking a companion and noticed that, unlike the other dogs, Harvey tended to remain alone and quiet.
“When they were in the play yard, Harvey came over and fully leaned against him. I knew then that this was the connection I was hoping for,” Olivia, Harvey’s mom, shared with GeoBeats.
From the moment Olivia’s partner met Harvey, it was clear he was meant to be their dog.
Harvey quickly bonded with his dad and became anxious whenever he left, even for a short while.
Fortunately, over time, Harvey learned that his loving human would always return, easing his worries.
The first time Harvey crossed paths with Olivia was during her first date with his dad, and just like her partner, they instantly connected.
A New Life
Once Harvey joined his new family, everything changed for the better.
Now, he enjoys a vibrant life filled with exploration and is no longer restricted or confined.
“We reside in Oregon and take pleasure in exploring its beauty. He gets to play in the snow, go skiing, and partake in all sorts of outdoor activities,” she expressed.
Living near a river is an added bonus for Harvey, who has a passion for swimming and enjoying water activities.
Harvey delights in the company of his humans and has successfully left behind his troubled past, developing a strong bond with them.
“Watching him gain independence and trust has been heartwarming; understanding that even when I step away, I will return,” she added.
In addition to a loving family, Harvey now has a younger furry sibling, bringing even more joy to his life!
The Perfect Home
Harvey truly hit the jackpot with his new family. Olivia is a person who gives love wholeheartedly, regardless of the animal.
“With any animal in my life, I aim to provide an endless amount of love, care, and compassion, as that’s the kind of relationship I aspire to have,” stated Olivia.
However, she acknowledges that Harvey receives an extra dose of love and attention because she understands his history and is determined to make up for what he lost as a vulnerable puppy.
It’s clear from this wonderful dog’s demeanor that both she and her partner have made that a reality.
