A Chance For Redemption
While strolling through her Oklahoma neighborhood, Summer spotted a stray dog with an unkempt coat. Intrigued, she walked closer.
The hesitant dog was frightened and refused to engage, prompting Summer to call her mother for assistance in helping the pup.
With some gentle coaxing, they managed to persuade the timid dog to accompany them to their home.
In the safety of a warm environment, Summer and her mother aimed to help the now-named Noah feel comfortable, embodying patience and kindness.
Summer recounted to The Dodo: “I had never rescued a dog myself before, so I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into.”
With care, Noah was provided food, water, and even some affectionate cuddles from Summer’s mother. Although she explored her new surroundings, she remained cautious.
Summer asked her mom if she could stay, and when she received the green light, they arranged a grooming appointment in Oklahoma to address Noah’s tangled fur.
After his grooming session, Noah appeared to be stunning. Yet, despite their attempts to earn Noah’s trust, she continued to exhibit signs of fear.
Summer stated: “In the initial days, she didn’t move much at all. Her primary coping mechanism was hiding in my closet. She was incredibly shy.”
Noah Is So Sweet
Over the course of a few weeks, changes began to surface. Noah gradually made notable progress.
She started to roam around the home more freely and even began interacting with visitors.
However, Summer experienced a remarkable transformation when she returned from a week away: both Navy and Noah enthusiastically welcomed her back.
Especially Noah, as she instantly wagged her tail and embraced her beloved human.
While Noah still exhibited traces of her earlier trepidation, that moment marked a pivotal evolution.
Summer remained by her side throughout the journey, witnessing significant behavioral changes as Noah learned to embrace her doggy life once more.
She reflected: “I realized at this moment that I was going to keep her. Much of her development has been about allowing her to progress at her pace.”
Not only has Noah found companionship in Summer’s other dog, Navy, but they’ve become inseparable friends.
Despite the challenges she faced, this lovely dog made remarkable strides toward improving her quality of life.
