Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to come across a stray dog in need. Some may follow you, hoping for food or water, while others wag their tails, silently wishing for adoption. However, in an unexpected twist, one woman encountered a dog that had a surprising purpose.
A Huge Surprise
During one of her errands, Mizti Brogdon stumbled upon an unusual dog in a parking lot in Oklahoma. As the president of the Street Dog Rescue and Recovery, she couldn’t ignore the sight of a sad dog in need. Approaching the dog, later named Dolly, Brogdon was pleasantly surprised by her friendly demeanor. She shared with The Dodo: “She came right up to me, let me pet her.”
It became clear that Dolly was looking for help, and she wanted Brogdon to follow her somewhere.
It’s Raining Puppies
Brogdon followed Dolly as she led the way up a path toward a cell tower. To her astonishment, she discovered a total of 16 puppies emerging from behind a fallen log. Although the puppies were initially a bit hesitant, they quickly grew curious upon seeing Dolly. After a closer look, she suspected that many of these puppies were not hers, as it seemed they were from various litters; nonetheless, Dolly was acting as a caring caregiver.
Recognizing that she needed assistance, Brogdon called a friend for help, and together they trapped all the puppies to take them to a shelter.
With many puppies to care for, Brogdon recognized the need for broader support and went live on Facebook. Four animal shelters in Oklahoma reached out to assist: Forever Yours Dog Rescue, 405 Animal Rescue, The Fuzzy Friends Fund, and Safe Haven Animal Rescue.
The puppies received necessary veterinary checkups and treatments before being placed into foster homes, where they would eventually await adoption. Meanwhile, Dolly found a loving new family and is now enjoying her forever home surrounded by affection.
