A stray pregnant pup roamed the streets of Oklahoma, longing for a better life where she could raise her pups in a loving home without the struggle for food. When she was rescued and taken to a shelter, she felt hopeful, but her dreams turned to despair as she found herself on the euthanasia list at an overcrowded facility.
Saved In The Nick Of Time
The pregnant pup, now named Mama Baskin Robbin, felt hopeless in the shelter until Sara, an experienced foster, saw a Facebook post about her. With Mama’s euthanasia scheduled for 9 a.m., Sara knew action was urgent. Teaming up with Pawsitive Tails, she contacted the shelter at 8:30 a.m., hoping it wasn’t too late.
Mama Baskin Robbin Is Safe
A dedicated volunteer drove five and a half hours to collect Mama Baskin Robbin. Despite sitting in the back seat with a sad expression, she was safe. Upon arrival, Sara welcomed her with open arms, showering her with affection and support as she prepared a cozy whelping box for the soon-to-be mother.
Welcoming Her Babies Into The World
After three days, Mama Baskin Robbin gave birth to eleven beautiful puppies after an eighteen-hour labor, naming them after various Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavors. Mama was a caring mother, licking and nurturing her pups, who thrived in a loving environment.
During one night, Mama Baskin Robbin worried Sara when she began shaking. A trip to the vet revealed that the dog was slightly anemic from her long labor, but as she began to feel safe and settled, Mama started to warm up to Sara, finally smiling and enjoying the cuddles with her pups.
Sara continues to care for the loving Mama Baskin Robbin and her adorable puppies. When they reach ten to twelve weeks of age, they will be ready for adoption. It’s clear that this sweet family will find loving homes that will cherish them.
