One heartwarming tale comes from Ohio, where a dog named Oakley unexpectedly discovered his forever family. This good boy was on a quest for love, and once he found his perfect match, he revealed yet another delightful surprise!
The Journey of Oakley
Oakley was found wandering the streets of Kentucky, where he was rescued and taken to a shelter. After a lengthy search for a loving home, the Adopt A Pit Rescue successfully placed him with Hollis and Jerry, a couple residing in Ohio.
“They discovered him on the streets of Kentucky, and I suppose he met all the criteria for finding a family there. Our rescue picked him up and brought him to Ohio, where we adopted him,” shared Hollis with GeoBeats Animals.
The couple was smitten by Oakley right away, as he was incredibly affectionate and laid-back from the get-go. His behavior was so exemplary that they began to question whether he truly was a street dog.
Given his enigmatic background, they weren’t certain if he had ever had a home before. Oakley demonstrated knowledge of commands and appeared to be crate trained.
This good boy had a plethora of delightful surprises for his new family, leaving Jerry and Hollis amazed with each passing day. They felt incredibly fortunate to have such a “naturally trained” dog in their lives, especially with their hectic schedules as medical students.
The Most Adorable Boy
Jerry had never owned a dog before due to family allergies, but for Oakley, he would gladly undertake that challenge again!
“I can handle runny noses and itchy eyes any day if it means I have someone like Oakley by my side,” Jerry remarks.
This sweet boy brings endless laughter to his parents every single day. He doesn’t mind being large or the fact that he isn’t a lap dog; he adores cuddling or being carried, as long as it means staying close to them.
Soon after Jerry returned home from a work trip that kept him away for over a month, he was inundated with love from his favorite boy. Yet, at the end of the day, it appears that Hollis holds a special place in Oakley’s heart.
Even with his affection split between both pawrents, Oakley certainly leans toward being a mommy’s boy!
Hollis’s grandmother recently passed away, leaving her quite despondent, but Oakley was right there to comfort her.
“I feel like he could sense something was off, and as cheesy as it might sound, he would lick my tears away,” Hollis reflects.
Oakley enjoys spending time with other dogs, meeting new people, and embarking on fresh adventures. He captures hearts wherever he roams, and he does so with undeniable charm!
Ultimately, his favorite spot in the world remains his cozy home, where he truly feels the warmth of love. After experiencing life on the streets, discovering the essence of true love is something invaluable!
