Officer Stunned by Note Found on Collar of Dog Abandoned in Wisconsin Park

Date:

A heart-wrenching incident in Platteville, Wisconsin, highlights the pressing issue of stray and abandoned dogs in need of immediate care and attention. Countless furry friends are left to fend for themselves, each carrying a unique and possibly traumatic past. This includes little Lola, who eagerly jumped at the chance to be rescued.

‘Take Me To A Shelter…’

The Platteville Police Department (PPD) recently shared the story of an abandoned dog found in their city. While police frequently respond to calls about loose animals, this case was unique as the dog came with a handwritten note.

At Mound View Park and Campground, where the dog was spotted, the female pup eagerly jumped into the police car when the officer arrived. “This sweet girl came right over to the officer and jumped in the squad,” read the Facebook post. Upon closer inspection, the officer noticed the pink collar contained something unusual: a note that read, “Please help. Take me to a shelter. My name is LOLA.”

Reading the note and witnessing the dog’s soulful eyes left the officer deeply saddened. It was evident this lovely girl had been abandoned by her owners, which is illegal under the municipal ordinance in Platteville.

Lola’s (P)Update

“We are asking for the public’s assistance in finding Lola’s original ‘owners.’ We would like to speak with them. Thank you in advance,” stated the police department. Lola’s story captivated the public, prompting many to wonder why someone would abandon her.

As the PPD looked into her past, Lola was placed in the care of the Platteville Veterinary Clinic, which sought to find her a forever home. Fortunately, it only took a week for this precious girl to get adopted!

Both the PPD and the veterinary clinic updated the public with the wonderful news that Lola had been adopted and is now headed to a fabulous new forever home. We wish sweet Lola all the happiness in her new life, hoping she will never face abandonment again.

At the time of writing this article, no further information regarding the police investigation into Lola’s previous owner has been released.
