North Carolina Woman Curious About Her Dog’s Behavior While She Was Away Gets an Unexpected Surprise

Date:

Have you ever wondered what your dog does when you’re not at home? I often take my dogs along, but sometimes they need to stay behind and guard the house. Initially, I never considered installing a camera indoors, assuming the one outside was sufficient. Still, the thought of capturing my dogs’ antics intrigued me.

A woman from Durham, North Carolina, had the same idea and set up a camera to monitor her dog, Sundae, a 10-year-old Labrador. What she discovered shocked not only her but also her followers on social media.

Who’s That Watching Me?

Now I’ll finally be able to see what she does when I’m not around and why my things are mysteriously ending up in her dog bed. That’s exactly what Sundae’s mom hoped to uncover with the new indoor camera.

Every time she left the house, she returned to find her Labrador surrounded by her belongings—shoes, socks, and random items like chapsticks—anything that carried her scent. “When I’d leave her home, even if just for a bit, I’d come back to see she’d taken my shoes, socks, and sometimes even unusual things like a ChapStick into her bed. I had never caught her in the act, so I was really curious to see how she did it,” Sundae’s mom shared.

The opportunity to test the camera arose quickly as she needed to run errands. Once she installed it, the camera sent notifications for any detected movement, prompting her to check the live feed from her phone.

What was Sundae up to? Was she creating chaos, destroying the living room, or scratching at the door? You’d never guess what the adorable North Carolina girl was actually doing.

Sundae simply laid by the front door, looking sad and waiting for her mom to return. Instead of causing mayhem, she seemed heartbroken.

“Every time she repositioned by the door, I would get a notification,” Sundae’s mom said. “My heart literally broke; I was tearing up in the grocery store watching her wait for me.”

Luckily, stores like Hobby Lobby and T.J.Maxx welcome dogs, allowing Sundae to accompany her mom on shopping trips.

Ms. Sundae, The TikTok Star

The video of Sundae patiently waiting by the door for her mom went viral on TikTok, racking up over 2 million views and cementing her fame on social media. This isn’t Sundae’s only viral moment, though. Did you know she’s also known for her unique style and love for dressing up in costumes?

The trend began when Sundae got bitten by ants and developed a rash, requiring her mom to apply ointment. To prevent her from licking the affected area, Sundae’s mom creatively cut a pair of sweatpants for her to wear instead of a cone. Sundae adored her new pants, leading to a wardrobe filled with stylish outfits, sunglasses, jewelry, and even wigs. She has become quite the fashionable lady, and it’s utterly delightful to see.
