Tyla was unaware of the meaning of freedom as she endured a miserable existence. Chained to a crate and confined to an outdoor tent by her owner, she was hidden away from the world, feeling helpless as she curled up on a baking sheet—her only bed.
This sweet pup deserved a loving home and the joys of life, but her cruel owner robbed her of happiness. Each day, she survived on the meager scraps thrown into her crate, her spirit growing more exhausted and hopeless.
But there was hope. Thankfully, the police intervened and rescued Tyla from her abusive circumstances, leading to her owner facing charges.
Tyla’s Rescue
After her rescue, Forgotten, Now Family Rescue in Charlotte, North Carolina, took Tyla under their wing. She was rushed to the vet for a thorough examination and found to be malnourished, battling both a paw infection and a fungal ear infection.
After receiving antibiotics and a special feeding diet, Tyla began gaining weight and was soon placed in a foster home. Initially, her foster mom, Avery Andolina, worried that Tyla would be depressed due to her past, but the pup quickly surprised her with her loving nature.
Upon meeting Avery, Tyla instinctively craved love and affection.
“She saw us and like instantly wanted love. It’s almost like she had missed out on that for so long and she knew what she was missing that she was just like so ready for us to love on her, for her to love on us,” Avery shared with GeoBeats Animals.
Having spent her life in a crate, Tyla initially struggled with being confined and even destroyed items in her crate. However, with training, she eventually learned to enjoy her crate as a safe space and now sleeps peacefully in her bed there when her foster parents are away.
The Sweet Dog Hopes To Find A Forever Home
At first, Tyla was unable to walk on concrete due to her paw infections, so Avery took her on soft path walks. With healing and care, Tyla gradually regained her strength and can now enjoy walks. She has also made a remarkable recovery, gaining weight and thriving.
Avery is immensely proud of Tyla’s progress, describing her as the perfect pup and extolling her affectionate nature. “Even though Tyla was clearly mistreated by humans and has a rough past, she remains loving and trusting, which is remarkable,” Avery noted.
Still living with her foster family in North Carolina, Tyla eagerly awaits her forever home. While there have been no applications yet, she hopes for a loving family soon.
