North Carolina Rescuers Find Dog in Small Kennel with ‘Free’ Sign on Busy Highway

Date:

Trust is a fundamental virtue that significantly impacts human relationships, defining their depth and longevity. Sadly, some individuals extend this trust solely to fellow humans, neglecting animals. Far too often, dogs, who place their unwavering trust in humans, are heartlessly abandoned, left to fend for themselves on the streets. When their trust is broken, these beings suffer immense mental trauma, making it incredibly challenging for them to learn to trust again. This story revolves around a sweet dog who was left behind in a kennel on a busy highway.

A Heartbreaking Story

Nova is a very special dog. Although she faced a tough beginning, she dreamed of a normal life, yet her owner abandoned her on the street with a ‘free’ sign on her kennel. It’s heartbreaking that someone could do this, especially on such a busy highway. Fortunately, one compassionate individual saw her plight and felt compelled to act. This Good Samaritan shared her story online, hoping that a rescue organization could come to her aid.

To everyone’s surprise, Madison Nygard, a volunteer with the Pawfect Match Rescue organization in North Carolina, stepped in. She recounted, “I was on my way. I had seen it a couple of minutes after it had posted. I got to Nova before the post hit the hour mark.” Upon arriving, she was horrified to see the kennel with the sign and pondered who could have done such a thing.

After a brief discussion with the animal control officers present, Nygard made the pivotal decision to rescue Nova. She took Nova to a veterinarian clinic in North Carolina for a checkup and potential treatment for any illnesses. Nygard emphasized, “I knew that at least if I brought her into the house, she would have food in her belly, and I could physically monitor her.” Now in Nygard’s foster care, Nova could finally unwind and express her gratitude, relishing every moment of security.

Nova adapted beautifully to her new environment, getting along well with everyone in the household, and Nygard felt joy witnessing her remarkable recovery from such trauma. Although she loved her foster family, Nygard knew it was essential to find a permanent home for her. She started exploring potential adopters, but until that process is finalized, Nova can still enjoy her life in a loving home filled with treats, toys, and caring humans.
