They say love heals, and this couldn’t be more evident than in Gloria’s story. When her foster mom, Emily, first laid eyes on her at a North Carolina shelter, she felt both captivated and heartbroken. Gloria’s soulful eyes seemed to look deep into her heart, despite her poor physical condition.
Little did this scruffy little dog, that resembled a worm, know that Emily, along with her friend Roni, would transform her life forever!
Gloria Was Not A Puppy At All

Emily and Roni, experienced fosters with Hope Animal Rescue in North Carolina, didn’t hesitate to bring Glo home. They immediately fell for this beautiful pup and were determined to help her recover from a severe case of mange. Glo’s skin was crusty, she was nearly bald, and she had endured significant pain while roaming the streets alone without anyone to help her. Yet, despite her difficult past, she maintained her sweet and gentle personality upon arriving at the shelter.

Although Glo appeared to be just a few weeks old, her true age remained a mystery. Emily noted, “I initially thought she was a nine to ten-week-old puppy. She was unbelievably sweet, yet it was clear she was in a lot of pain.”
However, after her first vet visit, they were shocked to learn the truth: Glo wasn’t a puppy but a full-grown adult dog. Her innocent little face and compact size had completely deceived everyone.
Over the next six weeks, Emily and Roni dedicated themselves to helping Glo return to her former glory. She received multiple baths per week, consistent care, and began to adjust to her new life. By the end of that period, she amazed everyone with her incredible transformation!
Emily and Roni couldn’t have been prouder. Glo looked like an entirely new dog, her fur fully grown and her eyes even more captivating than before. With her mange finally healed, she truly embodied the essence of a doggo princess!

She was exuberant, joyfully wiggling around and soaking up every moment with her foster family.
“It’s hard to believe that less than two months ago Glo was a stray living alone, and now she has blossomed into a princess poised to rule her own kingdom,” wrote Hope Animal Rescue on Instagram.
And didn’t she look adorable!
The Most Exciting Update

After showcasing Gloria’s remarkable transformation, the rescue’s inbox was inundated with applications. Eventually, Glo received a life-changing one. Her new mom and dad arrived at the shelter, eager to meet their new furry companion, and Glo melted in their arms instantaneously.
“It’s official – our Glo-worm has found her forever home,” Roni announced on Instagram.

Now renamed Pygmy, Gloria is embarking on new adventures in a loving home surrounded by the best family imaginable. Plus, she even has her very own Instagram account, allowing her fans to follow her daily escapades.
