Frankie, a five-week-old Pit Bull puppy, experienced sadness and confusion for the first time after being rejected by his family. They abandoned him in a Pampers diaper box on West Side property in Buffalo, New York. Peering out with longing eyes, he hoped a kind-hearted soul would notice him and take him to safety.
The Puppy Gets Help
Surprised by her discovery, a local business owner named Robin found the sweet puppy, later named Frankie, in front of her store. She picked him up, promising that help was on the way. Relieved to see a kind face, Frankie knew he was in good hands. As a dedicated supporter of West Side Cat Rescue, Robin contacted them to take Frankie into their care. Jamie Mulligan, the shelter’s founder, received the call and suspected that whoever dumped Frankie knew he would receive proper care.
The rescue staff welcomed Frankie, refusing to send him to an overcrowded shelter. They wanted to pamper him with love and care instead. As quoted by a representative from West Side Cat Rescue, “Unfortunately, the local shelters here are full of pit bulls that no one wants to adopt, so Jamie knew she couldn’t bring him to an overcrowded shelter.” Frankie quickly captured the hearts of the staff, who realized he yearned for affection more than anything.
Frankie was taken to the vet for a medical checkup and soon transitioned into foster care after receiving puppy food, a leash, and a collar.
Frankie Finds True Love
After moving into a foster home, Frankie’s world changed. His foster mom showered him with cuddles and love, forming a strong bond as time passed. When Jamie’s daughter expressed a desire to rename the puppy, it was clear she had fallen for him. The puppy’s new name became Percy, a sign of their enduring connection.
“It’s now looking like [Jamie’s] daughter has become attached. Percy is now a foster fail,” said the representative. Wrapped in the embrace of his forever mom, Percy now felt safe and cherished, his puppy eyes gleaming with joy—he had found his happily ever after.
