New Jersey Rescuers Stunned to Discover Puppy Abandoned on the Street with Just a Blanket and Food

Date:

Abandonment is a long-term trauma that often leaves lasting scars on dogs. Just imagine being part of a family one day and awakening to a completely different reality. Mia, a Pittie cruelly left behind by her family in Newark, New Jersey, knows this heart-wrenching feeling all too well. After being a good girl in a warm home for three years, she found herself tied to a fence in the dead of night, left with only a small blanket and some food, filled with endless unanswered questions.

Who Would Do Such A Cruel Thing

Yasmin Rivera, a volunteer at Jersey Pits Rescue, stumbled upon Mia during a nighttime feeding tour, and what she found was heart-wrenching. Mia was tied up, unable to escape from the very spot her family had left her. “Being abandoned by your family, tied to a fence, left alone in the middle of the night in Newark, I wonder what went through her mind as she watched her ‘family’ walk or drive away,” JPR expressed on Instagram.

All she had with her was some food left behind and a small blanket to rest on. Yet, when Yasmin approached with kindness and gentle words, Mia welcomed her with open paws. It was as if Mia had already accepted this twist of fate, recognizing Yasmin as her next savior.

The two spent the night in Yasmin’s truck, enjoying delicious takeout and bonding. The next day, Mia was introduced to Yasmin’s family and friends, where her heartwarming journey truly began. Despite the trauma she endured, a sweet smile illuminated Mia’s face.

“Mia is the sweetest, most precious little soul we have ever met. We have no idea how a dog that was abandoned in this way can still be so resilient and loving,” the rescue shared in another post.

Over the week she spent with Yasmin, Mia made new friends and adjusted to family life. Little did she know that her greatest days were still ahead.

The Sweetest Foster Fail

Thanks to Jersey Pits Rescue, Mia was matched with an ideal foster family. As soon as she met her new dad, she leaped into his arms and wouldn’t let go. Her fosters quickly adapted to her quirky, playful nature, and Mia transformed into the little princess of her new home. This undeniably led to one outcome—Mia became a foster fail! Just days into her foster care, her new parents recognized her special essence and decided to keep her for good. Naturally, Mia was ecstatic!

Mia now embraces a new life filled with daily adventures. Her family feels incredibly fortunate to have her, expressing immense gratitude toward her rescuers. “Mia enjoys playing fetch in the backyard, going for neighborhood walks, and taking plenty of naps… She’s incredibly smart and sweet, and we feel so blessed to have her,” said her family, according to JPR.

One thing is abundantly clear—Mia’s troubled days are behind her. She’s now all about her loving humans, snuggles, and exciting playtime. What else could she possibly ask for?
