There’s likely nothing more heartbreaking than when rescuers save a loving dog, only for that pup to face numerous rejections and be at risk of euthanasia.
It’s hard to justify why any healthy and affectionate dog should endure such a fate.
Every dog deserves the chance to find a family that will love and cherish them. This story revolves around a dog who narrowly escaped euthanasia due to a pivotal change.
An Incredible Rescuer

During a road trip with his dog, Smokey, Jon Mancinetti made an impactful decision.
He shared with The Dodo: In every city we visit, I’ll stop by the local shelter to help showcase dogs in need of adoption.
While at a shelter in Memphis, he encountered many amazing dogs, but just as he was about to leave, a pivotal moment occurred.
A volunteer approached him, informing him about Mosey, who was scheduled for euthanasia that very day.

Upon meeting Mosey, Jon was immediately smitten by his sweetness, but also saddened to see how thin he was.
Mancinetti expressed: No one would likely come in to adopt him due to his appearance, yet I could sense there was a beautiful spirit within.
Not wanting to leave Mosey behind at the Memphis shelter, he chose to foster him, needing to assess how he and Smokey would get along.
The introduction went seamlessly, and Mancinetti recognized that they were destined to be great companions.
Mosey’s New Adventure

It was in that moment that Mancinetti decided Mosey would accompany him and Smokey on their unforgettable journey.
They explored seven cities together and shared countless joyful moments. Mosey particularly enjoyed discovering new places.
During their travels, Mancinetti observed that Mosey was thriving. His weight increased notably and his coat began to flourish.
When the time came to find a permanent home for Mosey, Mancinetti was determined to take his time. He wanted to ensure the chosen family would be the perfect fit.

Fortunately, he found a remarkable family. When he arrived, he was taken aback by their enthusiasm for Mosey.
He was delighted to see a sign near the fireplace that read: Welcome home, Mosey.
Mosey immediately met his new canine siblings and family, falling in love with them at first sight, realizing he had found his forever home.
Though Mancinetti felt a tinge of sadness saying goodbye to Mosey, he was filled with joy knowing such a wonderful family would care for him.
