Hope For Paws is renowned for its daring rescue missions, but this particular case turned out to be one of their most challenging yet. Late at night, Hope For Paws, California received a desperate email regarding faint kitten sounds emanating from a homeowner’s wall.
The organization’s founder, Eldad, along with rescuers Loreta and JoAnn, quickly went to investigate, not realizing the magnitude of the challenge they were about to face. Upon arrival, they discovered that the desperate cries the homeowners had reported had ceased eight hours prior to their arrival, raising alarms that the tiny lives trapped within the wall might no longer be alive. Eldad expressed his concern, stating, “After 8 hours without making a sound, I feared they already passed away.” Thus, they had to seek permission to cut into the wall, a daunting task without any signs of life detected.
Babies In The Wall

Equipped with masks and flashlights, the rescuers began drilling holes in the wall. Despite feeling remorseful about damaging the man’s property, they attempted to maintain a light atmosphere by sharing stories about the strange items they often find hidden within walls. However, their initial camera inspection revealed nothing but old newspapers, necessitating a larger hole for further investigation.

As they neared the point of giving up, Loreta noticed movement, confirming that the kittens were indeed alive! After drilling another hole in the living room, they successfully rescued two small kittens, approximately two weeks old.

“We thoroughly checked that there were no more kittens in the wall,” said the rescue team in a post.
A Wonderful Rescue
Although the circumstances surrounding how the kittens ended up in the wall remained a mystery, the rescuers speculated that they might have fallen from the attic and that their mother had moved the siblings without ever being seen again by the homeowner. Once safely extracted, JoAnn administered sugar water to the kittens to stabilize their glucose levels, her skills critical to their survival.

JoAnn nurtured the kittens, bottle-feeding them for the following eight weeks until they thrived. The female kitten was named Blondie, while the male was called Dagwood. The Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats volunteered to foster the siblings, aiming to find them loving permanent homes. Although there hasn’t been any official news, I believe these precious kittens found a happy forever home where they can grow and flourish.
