The life of a sweet deaf dog named Joy has never been easy. Abandoned at an overcrowded shelter while heavily pregnant, Joy felt confused and betrayed by those she trusted the most. When her puppies were born, she cared for them with immense love, hoping they would find forever homes. Fortunately, her wish came true as all her puppies were adopted. Joy moved to Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary in Kansas, filled with hope that she too would find someone to love her.
Sweet Joy

The staff and volunteers at the sanctuary quickly fell in love with Joy and her delightful personality. They enjoyed taking her on walks, and her playful nature brought smiles to their faces. Everyone was confident that it wouldn’t be long before Joy found her perfect match. She possessed all the characteristics that potential adopters desire in a dog.
“Miss Joy loves going for long walks, playing in the yard, and collecting all the stuffies! She is very playful, sweet, and full of personality. Little tiny bestie is the best companion anyone could ever ask for,” Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary shared on Facebook.
With the immense love from the staff, Joy adjusted quickly to life in the sanctuary and began dreaming about her forever family. However, as time passed and she was repeatedly overlooked, her hopes began to dwindle.
Over the years, Joy has been moved in and out of various foster homes. While she adores people, she is somewhat selective with her four-legged friends, preferring larger dogs like herself over smaller ones.
The Pup Doesn’t Give Up Hope
Despite her hearing impairment, Joy has learned sign language for important phrases like “I love you,” “good girl,” “sit,” “no,” “leave it,” “peanut butter,” “walk,” “drink,” and “eat.” Tragically, even with all her training and charm, no one has shown interest in adopting her.

Each time Joy sees her fellow canines leave the shelter with their new families, she wonders why nobody has chosen her. Her friends at the sanctuary continually assure her that her forever family is on the way, saying that sometimes the best treasures are saved for later.
“… She’s been wondering why she hasn’t been picked yet. We keep telling her she’s the best girl in the world and they always save the best for last,” the Kansas sanctuary expressed in a Facebook post.

Joy continues to wait for her family with firm belief that one day, they will embrace her and never let her go. I sincerely hope that this sweet dog will soon receive the joyful news she has anticipated for so long.
