Being a dog rescuer or simply a dog lover means you never know where your heart may take you – or when your next chance to rescue a dog will come! Donna Lochmann, Chief Life Saving Officer at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, knows this all too well. One day, while searching for new pups to help with her team, Donna spotted a mother dog lying on the frozen ground next to her puppies, who were all curled up together next to an abandoned house, waiting for someone to take notice.
They Desperately Needed Help
Realizing how cold it was outside, they understood that the mother dog was doing her best to keep her puppies warm, but it simply wasn’t enough. The entire family had been freezing outside for an unknown period. Donna and her colleague quickly set a humane trap nearby, placing delicious treats inside and waiting from a proper distance. Thankfully, they didn’t have to wait long.
The mama was clearly starving: she walked into the trap without hesitation and was secured quickly. Now it was time to save her puppies, who were hiding in a small crawl space—making the rescue a tad more complicated. But Donna and her team successfully rescued them all! One by one, Donna scooped up the three chunky little boys and placed them in the car alongside their mom, where they were so happy to finally be warm.
Meet Chipmunk And Her Boys
These are undoubtedly some of the chubbiest pups—Alvin, Simon, and Theodore—along with their mother, Chipmunk, who were welcomed into the facility with open arms. The volunteers were unable to hide their admiration for this adorable family, and their first meet-and-greet was filled with cuddles and kisses, as it should be!
And it gets even better! Immediately after being rescued, Chipmunk and her baby boys found a foster home with an amazing foster mom. “We got the whole family out of the freezing cold, we had a foster hero ‘on deck’ ready to take them in – and these are the cutest, fattest puppies in the world! Meet Chipmunk and her boys, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore,” the Missouri rescue wrote in the YouTube video.
Momma Chipmunk and her pups are set to begin an exciting new journey, learning about life indoors. Soon enough, all four will be available for adoption. For now, let’s just take a moment to admire how incredibly cute and lovable these cuddly little ones are! I certainly can’t get enough of them!
