Sometimes, unexpected moments arise from the most ordinary circumstances. For Brian Waldrop, the Stream Team Coordinator at Missouri Department of Conservation, this was true during a typical day of scouting locations for clean-up activities with his team and local citizens.
To their surprise, they stumbled upon a pile of trash topped by a big, black bag that showed signs of movement. Intrigued, Brian approached the bag and, upon opening it, was stunned to discover a little puppy nestled among the debris. His heart sank upon realizing the pup had been cruelly abandoned.
What Was In A Bag?

This Missouri man and his coworkers were astonished. When he realized the puppy was a victim of abandonment, Brian was heartbroken. “It’s a happy ending story or at least a happy beginning story. He was found in a black trash bag in a pile of trash,” he shared with FOX 2 St. Louis.
Determined not to let this little creature’s future remain uncertain, Brian made a lifesaving decision: he decided to adopt the puppy and give him a forever home.
The Most Heartwarming Love Story

Brian’s decision was met with an outpouring of support online. After announcing the adoption in a Facebook post, people across the country expressed their joy. “Thank you for saving this little guy! So thankful your crew was in the right place at the right time,” enthused one commenter.
When Brian first took Dude home, he appeared yellow. However, after a good bath, Brian discovered that he was indeed a charming white puppy! “He was quite yellow. When I got him home and washed him, he magically turned white,” Brian reflected.

Brian affectionately named his new furry friend “Dude,” reflecting on how the name evolved through various ideas before settling on this simple yet endearing choice. “His first name could’ve been Hefty… A good name could be, like, Shawn, or Riley… Right now, it’s just good ole’ Dude. He’s just a cute little puppy,” he said.
After the traumatic experience of abandonment, Brian felt relieved knowing Dude had finally found a loving home. Now, Dude’s only job is to think up new, creative adventures, as he will never have to endure the fear of abandonment again.
