When it comes to a dog’s love, there are no rules! Even those who think they are immune to the canine effect often find themselves surprised when they lock eyes with a dog. Take TJ from Wisconsin, who recently adopted a blind dog named Bear with his fiancé, Angie. Initially opposed to bringing Bear home, TJ has now become smitten with his new furry son!
From Being Overlooked To Being His Dad’s Best Friend

Before he won the hearts of Angie and TJ, Bear faced a challenging path. He was surrendered to a Wisconsin shelter with his six siblings at just a few weeks old. While all his siblings found homes, Bear remained overlooked until Angie discovered him. Upon seeing him, she felt an instant connection and decided he had to come home. The only hurdle was convincing TJ, who wasn’t as enthusiastic at first. After much persuasion, he finally agreed, and once Bear arrived, he quickly realized he should have said yes sooner!
“Initially, my fiancé was totally against it. I had to beg, and now Bear is his best friend,” Angie told GeoBeats Animals.
The bond between TJ and Bear formed immediately; Bear found comfort in his dad, while TJ enjoyed cuddling with his new “son,” engaging in cozy cuddle sessions.
The amusing thing about Bear is that despite having a mix of large breeds, he transformed into the snugliest lap dog imaginable. Bear believes that it doesn’t matter if he’s part Mastiff or St. Bernard as long as he can curl up on the couch or bed.
Bear effortlessly won over his family and became the prince of their home! To their surprise, he quickly learned to navigate around the house!
“Being Different Doesn’t Make You Incapable”

Bear’s disability doesn’t limit him. Even though he was born blind, he behaves like any regular dog—navigating without issues, quickly mastering the stairs, and knowing just where all his toys are! Remarkably, he can even hop onto beds or couches when he wants cuddles or nap time, appearing to have no disabilities at all.
“His other senses are incredibly sharp. He can gauge the distance of sounds when we tap things, so that’s one of the key ways we help him – by tapping to indicate where items are,” Angie shares.

Angie and TJ feel incredibly grateful to have Bear in their lives. He teaches them daily that being different is not a limitation, but a strength. “The key lesson we’ve learned from him is that having a disability doesn’t equate to being unable. Just because you have something unique about you doesn’t mean you are incapable,” Angie wraps it up succinctly. Bear truly lives life to the fullest, even becoming an Instagram and TikTok sensation, charming followers with his delightful antics. What an extraordinary boy!
