Lee Asher has always envisioned a haven where every abandoned and neglected animal can feel cherished, safe, and liberated.
This vision was realized when he purchased The Asher House, featuring a spacious property in Estacada, Oregon, now home to all his rescue animals.
The essence of this sanctuary has been Lillie, a Saint Bernard dog that Lee saved and nurtured back to health.
Tragically, after eight beautiful years together, Lillie passed away, yet she left behind a heartfelt gift for the one who adored her most. Discover this touching tale.
Heart & Soul Of The Asher House

Lillie was discovered lying in a puddle behind a dumpster amid torrential rain. Animal control rescued her, unsure if she was even alive.
They could not determine her exact ailments, but she was gravely ill.
During her stay at the South LA Animal Shelter, Lee Asher visited her daily, witnessing her spirit dimming with each visit.
He wasn’t allowed to adopt her or even spend time with her for three long weeks, and Lillie was gradually losing all hope.
At that time, The Asher House was just a dream, but Lee assured Lillie he’d rescue her when he had the chance.
Finally, after three weeks, Lee was able to adopt her.

Upon bringing her home, he discovered the reason for Lillie’s illness – she had been suffering seizures throughout the night.
The road to her recovery was lengthy, both mentally and financially, but after six months, she began to improve.
For eight profound years, Lillie remained Lee’s cherished companion, the beating heart of The Asher House… a dog who had been there since the start. Yet, tragically, in January 2024, Lillie passed away.

While grappling with the profound loss of his dearest companion, Lee received a message about a puppy desperately needing rescue — the correspondence arrived on the very day Lillie passed away.
As he read the note, Lee was left in disbelief…
It was a little Saint Bernard puppy… just like Lillie.
Meet Ranger

“Just when Lillie passed away, I learned about this dog through an email we received. I can hardly believe it. I’m about to pick up this dog,” Lee Asher remarked in his rescue video.
The timing was remarkable. At the moment he lost his dear furry friend, he got informed about another Saint Bernard puppy needing rescue.
Lee was convinced that it was Lillie who had guided him towards this puppy.
When he first laid eyes on the puppy — who was later named Ranger — it was nearly love at first sight.

“Lillie was my guiding light, and her absence left a darkness in my life. However, she gifted me a shining new hope, and that hope is Ranger,” Lee expressed.
Ranger has officially joined the expansive Asher family and is destined for an incredible life ahead.
