Man Attempts to Exercise, but His German Shepherd Puppy Isn’t Having It

Date:

Having a dog, particularly an adorable little puppy, is undeniably a wonderful experience. These delightful companions have a knack for brightening our days, no matter how mischievous they might be. We can’t hold their antics against them.

That said, there are times when their behavior can be so bothersome that we struggle to stay focused on our tasks. Yet, we often find it in our hearts to forgive them, simply because we love them so much.

This was true for one owner whose plans for a workout were disrupted by his playful German Shepherd puppy. While the man found joy in his puppy’s antics, there was a moment when it became somewhat unsettling.

This was a clear indication that he would need to address his dog’s behavior in the future.

“I Crave Violence”

Nick Chapman hadn’t had his German Shepherd puppy for long, so perhaps he wasn’t fully aware of her behavior patterns yet. However, he learned an important lesson one day while attempting to do push-ups at home.

In an Instagram video he shared on his profile, @_nickchap, we can see Nick in the starting position for his workout. Before long, his five-month-old puppy, Leia, bounds in and immediately derails his plans.

She crawls under him, tugs at his shirt, and eventually starts nibbling at his hand. When he tries to instruct her to behave, she continues her playful disruption.

Leia then emits some peculiar sounds and finally “utters” a rather eerie phrase that Nick interprets as: “I crave violence.”

“She said shove your positive reinforcement where the sun don’t shine,” Nick humorously captioned the video.

This video quickly went viral, garnering numerous entertaining comments from viewers.

“German Shepherds have no idea what ‘behave yourself’ means,” one user remarked, while another added: “She said ‘no pain, no gain.’”

A third commenter joked: “She’s just keeping you safe from working out 🤣 it’s a risky endeavor 🤣.”

Something Must Be Addressed

While this video is undoubtedly humorous, it’s crucial to regard such behavior seriously.

Experts indicate that it’s normal for puppies to nibble, but if they start biting more aggressively, it’s time to intervene.

This is particularly important because if the owner fails to discourage this behavior, the puppy may grow up thinking it’s acceptable. If left unchecked, a larger dog’s bite can become considerably more perilous.

Fortunately, as noted by the American Kennel Club, there are various strategies to teach your puppy not to bite. So if you’re facing similar challenges, take a look at their resources. The wonderful news is that Nick appears to have successfully trained Leia to behave.
