A mother’s affection knows no bounds. When a kind passerby spotted a mother dragging her injured puppy down the street, their heart shattered instantly.
The puppy was wailing in agony, appearing to be hurt, while his mother desperately pulled him along, pleading for assistance.
Without hesitation, the kind soul reached out to local animal rescuers, who promptly responded to the call for help.
Assistance Has Arrived
The rescuers discovered that the person who contacted them was the puppy’s owner; his puppy had dashed into the street and suffered a serious accident. The mother was the first to find her puppy, desperately attempting to move him to a safer location.
The rescuers swiftly transported him in their vehicle to the veterinary clinic.
Upon arrival, the pup underwent a detailed medical examination and was immediately fitted with a neck brace.
He was an exceptionally good patient and very compliant during his examination. The poor guy even shed a few tears.
The veterinarians opted to sedate him, allowing him to fall asleep and rest peacefully.
Path to Healing
Although the puppy was now safe, his journey to recovery was just beginning.
Due to his injury, he struggled to walk and often swayed from side to side. The dedicated individuals caring for him chose to transfer him to a specialized hospital equipped with advanced technology that would expedite his healing process.
Upon arrival at the modern veterinary clinic, the doctors performed a CT scan since they suspected either a brain or spinal cord injury.
Subsequent results indicated tension on the spine and spinal cord, causing fluid accumulation in the cerebellum, which in turn led to spinal shrinkage.
Although surgery was deemed the only viable option by the doctors, performing the operation was too risky, given the sensitive nature of the area and the potential for excessive blood loss.
After thorough consultations, the veterinarians opted against surgery and chose to place the puppy in a foster home where he would receive dedicated, round-the-clock care.
In Foster Care
Upon seeing the puppy’s determination to regain his mobility and live his life to the fullest, his foster family was filled with joy.
They recognized that with a little extra love, care, and patience, this adorable pup would soon be reunited with his mother.
The puppy thrived in foster care, enjoying playtime, fun, and naps, which ultimately improved his wellbeing.
Now named Ahu, the pup spent nearly two months with his foster family before undergoing another checkup. When his CT scan indicated significant improvement, his caretakers were overjoyed.
Nevertheless, the scans revealed that he would never fully regain proper walking ability.
Undeterred, Ahu embraced life with enthusiasm, filled with joy and excitement, even finding ways to stand while eating by propping himself against a wall. Truly remarkable!
His caretakers are committed to ensuring Ahu has everything he needs to enjoy a fulfilling life filled with happiness, love, and adventure.
