Every day is a battle for homeless dogs to find scraps of food and stay warm as temperatures drop.
For young puppies separated from their mother’s care, the struggle is even greater. Alone, they face hunger and the biting cold, hoping for a compassionate human to help.
Ace, a small puppy feeling both hunger and cold, found himself in a store parking lot missing his mother dearly. Heartbroken and alone, his sadness grew.
As he noticed the shoppers, Ace began to watch them, his eyes filled with sorrowful pleas. He wished that someone might take notice and help him find a safe, warm place.
A Little Furball Requires Assistance
Deanna Tsosie, an experienced dog rescuer, was heartbroken when she got a call from a compassionate community member from the Navajo reservation.
The message revealed a tiny black puppy sleeping all alone in the Ace Hardware store parking lot.
“He is about 4–5 weeks old. He was allegedly left there …,” Tsosie reported on Instagram.
Concerned for the little one, Tsosie made her way to the hardware store. Upon arrival, she spotted a small puppy sheltered next to a parked car from the frigid air.
Approaching the puppy cautiously, she intended to comfort him with a gentle hand.
However, the moment Ace saw her moving closer, he became frightened and ran to hide behind the closest car wheel.
Tsosie gently spoke to the frightened puppy, assuring him that he was safe. Sensing her kindness, Ace left his hiding spot.
After picking up the puppy, later named Ace, Tsosie searched the surrounding area for his mother or siblings.
Sadly, Ace’s family was nowhere to be found, and he remained alone in the parking lot.
As Tsosie cradled him, Ace looked up at her with sorrowful eyes, silently wishing to be taken to a place where love and warmth awaited him.
Determined to find the puppy a caring family and a home, Tsosie reached out to Az Hidden Jem Rescue in Phoenix, Arizona. They agreed to take in Ace.
The moment they saw the video of his rescue, they instantly fell in love with him.
“He looked like a little bear and was just perplexed,” Az Hidden Jem Rescue shared on Instagram.
That same day, the rescue team picked him up and took him to a veterinary clinic, where the medical staff conducted a full examination and diagnosed Ace with mange.
Fortunately, the adorable puppy received the necessary treatment.
A Joyful Life in a Foster Home
The Phoenix-based rescue arranged for Ace to stay with a phenomenal foster family that welcomed him with open arms and great care.
Though undergoing treatment for mange, Ace’s spirit remains unbroken – he is filled with joy.
Ace is thriving in his new environment, soaking up the affection and love from his foster family.
He enjoys playful moments with his foster siblings, a delightful group of kittens.
Once the sweet fur baby completes his healing journey, he will be ready to seek his forever home. We believe Ace will soon capture the heart of a family who will cherish him as he truly deserves.
