There is no greater act than saving a life. While it often requires some risk to oneself, if there is no such danger, one should take action without hesitation.
Nikki Epie, an intern at a veterinary clinic, understood this well when she offered her Labrador and Golden Retriever mix, Pipay, to donate blood for another dog in distress.
At the same time, the clinic staff found an alternate blood donor. Yet, Pipay, aged five, remained on standby for future blood transfusions for other dogs.
A month later, that opportunity arose, and Pipay’s moment to assist had finally arrived.
A Noble Deed That Saved A Life

At 1:30 a.m., Nikki’s phone buzzed with a call from Highland Vets Animal Clinic. Anticipating the reason for the call, she learned that they urgently required a blood donor for a puppy with critically low hemoglobin levels.
She was informed that the puppy would not survive until dawn without immediate blood, prompting Nikki to leap out of bed to awaken Pipay.

After some sleepy yawns, Pipay eventually woke up and seemed thrilled at the prospect of going out, mistaking it for a fun walk.
Sadly, this excitement turned into a challenge for Nikki as it took her 15 minutes to finally get Pipay into the car. Thankfully, the clinic was nearby, and despite the struggles, they made it on time.

Once admitted, Pipay was sedated for the procedure. It took a bit longer to locate a vein, which Nikki humorously remarked was due to Pipay being “a little too chonky.”
Fortunately, everything went smoothly and the puppy received the essential blood donation that saved his life. Nikki later shared a video on her TikTok documenting that night’s events.
