All Grace ever wanted was love.
This endearing Doberman faced a challenging life journey, entirely out of her control. After suffering serious injuries in a car accident, she spent days crying out for help.
Eventually, Grace found a wonderful foster home where she was embraced with kindness.
But just when she thought things were looking up, her tale took another unforeseen twist – this time for the worse.
Discovered in Distressing Condition
Juliana, the founder of Dirt Road Dogs in Choctaw, Oklahoma, couldn’t ignore Grace’s plight. Upon learning about her situation, she immediately brought her in as a foster and provided her with exceptional care.
“She is a loyal and sweet mini Dobie who is being fostered here at camp with @dirtroad_dogs after being found hit by a car and dealing with a broken foot,” DRD shared on Instagram.
Grace adjusted to her new surroundings at her own speed. She blossomed into a delightful dog who simply adores being around people. However, she still needed time to get used to her new canine friends.
But that adjustment period didn’t last long.
After just a couple of months, she had transformed into a completely new dog, relishing her life to the fullest.
This black Dobie girl exemplified the perfect companion—one ideal for families of all types. Her sweet disposition ultimately led her to something she had longed for—her forever home!
The Phone Call They Dreaded
Juliana and her family were overjoyed to see Grace commencing a new chapter. However, nearly a year later, she received a devastating call.
It turned out that the individual who adopted Grace had been arrested on charges of abuse and neglect, and the unfortunate girl found herself in animal control alongside several other dogs. Thanks to Grace’s microchip, the officers were able to reconnect her with Juliana’s rescue, leaving Grace homeless yet again!
“She and the other dogs had suffered from starvation, neglect, and abuse. Those that survived were brought in for medical treatment,” DRD reported.
Juliana’s heart broke into a million pieces. She genuinely believed that Grace had found the loving home she deserved. Instead, more trauma was all that awaited her.
Without hesitation, she and her family decided to welcome Grace back into their lives, although they worried if she would recognize them after all that time.
When the moment of reunion arrived, Juliana was filled with anxiety about Grace’s response, but this sweet girl quickly dispelled all her fears. She recognized them!
“It had been nearly a year since Grace left us, but when she saw us, it was evident that she remembered,” DRD remarked.
Grace’s tumultuous journey came full circle. She was finally back in an environment where she felt safe, this time for good!
Juliana and her family chose to keep Grace in their Oklahoma home permanently, granting this resilient girl a fresh start in life.
Despite her past traumas, Grace couldn’t be more thrilled to begin anew. Though she may need time to readjust to her new situation, the crucial thing is that she will never have to endure abuse again.
From now on, her life will be filled with happiness, laughter, and countless thrilling adventures with her furry siblings.
