Some pups find themselves in unsuitable homes with owners who fail to appreciate the significance they hold in their lives. Sadly, today’s tale is about a sweet puppy who came to be in such a situation.
Abandoned And Afraid
When the team at Priest River Animal Rescue (PRAR), a non-profit animal rescue organization in Idaho, arrived one morning, they encountered a truly heart-wrenching sight.
An adorable Border Collie mix had been discovered tied to their donation shed.
“Though he appeared physically healthy, he was emotional turmoil, frightened and bewildered, leading him to snarl and growl at us,” shared Barbara Grover, the board’s president and a volunteer, with Newsweek.
After gaining Buddy’s trust, the shelter staff welcomed him into their Idaho facility.
They successfully reached out to his previous owner, who was devastated to hear that the dog was no longer wanted.
Following procedures, he was placed in isolation and is slated for neutering as soon as arrangements can be made.
Never Give Up
While Buddy adjusts to life in the shelter, the staff remains optimistic that he won’t be there for long.
Their immediate goal is to find him a loving forever home — one that will celebrate and cherish him for who he truly is.
The PRAR team asserted that Buddy would thrive in an active family environment that can shower him with love and attention, allowing him to put behind the shadows of his past and embrace the light of his future.
“He is a playful, friendly dog who enjoys fetch and is great with kids,” added Grover.
The shelter made it clear that abandoning an animal in this manner is unacceptable!
Grover emphasized that failing to follow proper surrender protocols not only disrespects the shelter and its staff but also complicates their efforts significantly.
“When proper surrender processes are bypassed, it creates chaos and risk, and shows neglect for the safety and welfare of the animal involved. As a small facility with limited resources, such careless actions can have substantial ramifications,” she remarked.
Therefore, we urge you to consider this when contemplating abandoning your pets on the streets or even at a shelter.
It’s essential to remember that our furry companions view us not merely as their best friends but as their closest family! Abruptly leaving them behind can leave them disoriented and distressed, which might result in aggressive behavior.
