Two dogs were heartbroken after being cruelly abandoned in the Utah desert, left in a cage without food or shelter. All they could do was gaze around the desolate landscape, longing for someone to rescue them. These two male Landseers yearned for freedom, food, and help. Confused and betrayed by the humans who left them to perish, they felt utterly hopeless.
Good Samaritans Rush To Help The Dogs

Fortunately, some hikers stumbled upon the heartbreaking scene and hurried to assist the dogs. Shocked to find the two animals cramped in a cage and exposed to the harsh conditions, the hikers approached them with compassion, calling the police for further help. Upon arrival, the officers took the dogs to Hurricane Animal Shelter, where they were examined by a vet and thankfully found to be in good health, suggesting they hadn’t been in the desert for long. Unfortunately, with no microchips or collars, their owners were not found.
Safe And Sound

On February 25th, 2025, the shelter shared photos of the abandoned dogs on their Facebook page, seeking help in identifying them or their previous owner. “We have minimal information on who left them. No collars or microchips. If anyone knows additional information that could be helpful in this case, please contact us at 435-635-8314,” wrote the Hurricane Animal Shelter on their Facebook page.

Local resident Andrea Kaz, known for her advocacy for animals, expressed her sorrow upon hearing about this tragic incident. Having encountered similar cases of abandonment, she urged individuals to recognize that animals are not just disposable items. The rescued dogs are currently safe at the shelter, receiving love and care from kind humans. Once their stray hold expires, they will be available for adoption. If they don’t find their forever homes, there’s a chance they may be transferred to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab. It is hoped that these dogs soon find loving humans who will cherish them with unconditional love.
