Dogs truly are man’s best friend, and they continuously show it!
Not only are they fantastic companions, but they also become invaluable helpers in times of need. A dog is always eager to assist their beloved human in navigating life’s challenges, and here we have Dodger as a perfect example.
When his visually impaired owner, Rolland Croteau, was left stranded after a taxi driver mistakenly dropped him off in the wrong place, Dodger, his service dog, took charge!
Taxi Incident

Croteau, an elderly man who is blind, had taken Dodger to the Army and Navy Air Force. After a long evening out, he requested a cab around 10 P.M. What happened next was quite a shock!
The first taxi driver refused to pick him up because of Dodger. Rolland recounted that the driver claimed he was allergic to dogs, making it impossible for him to take Dodger along.
“I heard the taxi arrive, and he refused to let me and Dodger into the cab. He said he was allergic to dogs,” Croteau recounted to Global News.

Then came another twist! When the second taxi arrived, Rolland and Dodger got in for the journey home only to find out that they were dropped off at the wrong location.
Realizing he was standing in an unfamiliar area in front of a stranger’s house, Rolland tried to return to the road but discovered the driver had already left.
“The driver couldn’t locate my house; he drove around a lot before eventually dropping me off at the wrong place,” Croteau shared.
Heroic Dodger

With no other options and the clock ticking, Rolland needed to find his way home. At that crucial moment, his guide dog, Dodger, showcased his incredible intelligence!
Rolland reattached the harness to Dodger and requested him to “find a way home.” Despite the fear of being alone in an unfamiliar area late at night in the rain, Rolland placed his complete trust in his loyal companion.
Fortunately, Dodger, the remarkable dog, guided his owner for three blocks, and eventually, they made it back home safely.
Rolland felt immensely grateful for his furry friend, especially knowing that things could have turned out much worse in an unfamiliar situation.

Dodger confirmed his unwavering loyalty and proved that he is an exceptional seeing-eye dog. According to Croteau, he completely and utterly trusts his canine companion!
“No matter where I go, I have complete faith in him,” he expressed.
The taxi company released a statement acknowledging the incident and assured that they would use this unfortunate event to retrain their personnel. As a gesture of goodwill, they even offered Rolland complimentary rides and sent a gift for his wonderful dog.
What truly matters is that both Rolland and his faithful friend made it home safely. Thanks to his special dog, this elderly man will always feel protected! And Dodger will undoubtedly continue to be the best dog ever!
