This remarkable Australian Shepherd service dog has consistently been a dedicated companion to his owner, Jaime Simpson. Beneath his stunning appearance and lovable personality lies a meticulously trained service dog who assists Jaime in managing her condition.
Yet, one day, Echo astonished everyone with his incredible life-saving actions!
Echo, The True Hero
Jaime and Echo are inseparable. After the passing of Jaime’s first service dog, this fluffy Aussie entered her life and won her heart completely.
As someone who lives with epilepsy, Jaime struggled to manage her condition until Echo came along. From that moment, everything transformed!
Not only does Echo anticipate and recognize when Jaime is on the verge of an episode, but he goes above and beyond to assist her through it. He offers comfort at every turn and ensures Jaime’s safety at all times.
In February 2024, Jaime shared a touching video on her Instagram page that highlighted her dog’s remarkable abilities.
Just before Jaime was about to experience a significant seizure, Echo sprang into action. Although the preventive medication he fetched was no longer effective, the dog continued to alert his mom that a seizure was imminent.
“Echo barked to signal that a major seizure was occurring. He laid on me to prevent any dislocations,” Jaime explained in her video post.
He remained composed throughout the entire episode, lying on his mom’s body to ensure her safety.
“During seizures, I have no awareness of my surroundings. Echo is the pillar supporting my safety and independence, whether alone or in public,” she added.
Helping His Momma Everywhere
Having Echo by her side at all times is a tremendous gift for Jaime. He has supported her in ways she can’t even quantify, and he does so with kindness and compassion.
Thanks to Echo’s exceptional training and abilities, the pair loves to travel and explore together. They’re always side by side, and in challenging moments, Echo stands ready to help his mom.
Echo is an enthusiastic worker who thrives in his role. Aside from being a service dog, this Aussie enjoys various high-energy activities such as agility courses, sporting trials, and all the events his family takes him to.
“HE LOVES TO WORK. He is so passionate about it that he will refuse to eat if he doesn’t have a mental challenge. He excels at his job but craves MORE. This is why we participate in sporting events with him,” Jaime shared on Instagram.
He has also received training to assist children in need and reactive dogs. This enables Echo to support both humans and animals in navigating stressful situations more effectively.
Presently, he lives with his mom and his furry sibling, a Golden Retriever named Everest, who learns a great deal from Echo.
“Echo enjoys teaching Everest how to see the world through the eyes of a Service Dog and how to relax. They are never apart,” their mom noted.
Jaime is incredibly proud of her companion. Despite her recent challenging seizure, Echo’s unwavering presence was invaluable.
And knowing that Echo will keep enduring challenges alongside his mom brings a level of security that is unmatched!
