Joy, a sweet deaf dog, has faced a tough journey. Abandoned at an overcrowded shelter during her pregnancy, she felt lost and betrayed when she needed love the most. After giving birth to her puppies and nurturing them with care, each of her babies was adopted, fulfilling her hope that they would find loving homes. Joy then moved to Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary in Kansas, believing she would find the love she yearned for.
Sweet Joy

The sanctuary staff and volunteers adored Joy’s playful personality and found great joy in taking her on walks. Her affectionate nature convinced everyone that she would eventually capture the heart of a forever family. She exhibited all the qualities desired in a companion dog.
“Miss Joy loves going for long walks, playing in the yard, and collecting all the stuffies! She is very playful, sweet, and full of personality. Little tiny bestie is the best companion anyone could ever ask for,” Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary shared on Facebook.
With the love and support from the amazing staff, Joy quickly adjusted to life at the sanctuary, dreaming about the day she would meet her forever family. However, as time passed without any potential adopters showing interest, Joy’s hope began to wane. She had been shuffled in and out of several foster homes over the years. While Joy enjoys human companionship, she tends to be selective with her four-legged friends, preferring larger dogs over smaller ones.
The Pup Doesn’t Give Up Hope
Despite her hearing impairment, Joy has learned important sign language commands such as “I love you,” “good girl,” “sit,” “no,” “leave it,” “peanut butter,” “walk,” “drink,” and “eat.” Unfortunately, even with her impressive skills and endearing nature, no one has shown interest in adopting her. As she watched her friends find homes, her heart sank, wondering why no one would choose her.
Joy’s friends at the sanctuary comfort her by assuring her that her forever family is just around the corner. “…She’s been wondering why she hasn’t been picked yet. We keep telling her she’s the best girl in the world and they always save the best for last,” the sanctuary expressed in a Facebook post.

Joy remains patient, waiting for the day her new family will scoop her up and take her home. I truly hope that this sweet pup receives the joyful news she has long anticipated.
