Unfortunately, there are numerous cases where dog owners abandon their pets in isolated areas, leaving them without any means of help. In other instances, well-meaning individuals are forced to leave their pets, despite their best efforts to provide a safe environment, leaving their furry friends with little hope.
In this story, we focus on an Arizona owner who left his dog in a park along with a heart-wrenching note for passersby.
A Smart Boy, Baloo
At just one year old, Baloo was abandoned and had begun to discover the wonders of life. Fortunately, a woman named Lillian Engelhard noticed him in the park and felt compelled to help him.
While uncertain if he was with someone, she decided to take action. Lillian shared her thoughts with The Dodo: I was out walking one of my dogs when I saw a dog in a community run with no one around… She thought perhaps they had run out of doggie bags or faced an emergency.
After waiting in her car to see if anyone would return for Baloo, Engelhard realized nobody came back. He appeared thirsty and hungry, leading her to suspect he had been left alone for some time.
Baloo Loves Learning New Things
Now it was up to Engelhard to help him. As she got closer, Baloo’s excitement was evident, brightening the mood as he approached her. It was then that she saw a peculiar note affixed to him.
The note simply stated: “This dog is not trained!!! *I had to leave him. Please save him (Venom).” Lillian quickly realized that Baloo was a cherished pet who just craved human companionship.
Due to his energetic nature, Engelhard knew he needed to train him to improve his focus. She felt immense pride in the progress Baloo made in just a few days. He quickly learned how to sit, lie down, stay, and he was also potty trained.
After spending time in foster care with Engelhard, she enrolled him for adoption through Lost Our Home Pet Rescue. While his adoption status remains unknown, I am confident that Baloo is well cared for and continues to thrive as he learns new things each day.
