As soon as Lisa Reams, the founder of Saving Grace Animal Rescue, got a call about a puppy abandoned in a dumpster in Yazoo City, Mississippi, she rushed to the scene to rescue him. Upon arrival, Lisa found no traces of the puppy and searched tirelessly, refusing to lose hope. When she returned an hour later, she discovered the tiny pup terrified and hiding next to the dumpster, without food or water.
Rescuing Oscar

As Lisa cautiously approached, Oscar whimpered and growled, attempting to hide further. Heartbroken, Lisa noticed he was infested with worms and starving. However, as she spoke to him softly, he began to feel safe in her hands.

Lisa checked nearby dumpsters to ensure there were no other puppies in need. She conducted a thorough search, but Oscar was the only one she found. Despite scanning him, there was no microchip. Due to her rescue being at capacity, she reached out to Angie Young, founder of Southern Mutts in Greenwood, Mississippi. Young agreed to take Oscar and help him find a forever home.

Reams chose to foster Oscar and brought him home, where she provided him with food and a warm bath. The following day, he visited the vet, who diagnosed Oscar, approximately six weeks old, with hookworm and ringworm infections. After receiving the prescribed dewormer, Oscar returned to his foster home.

After failing to locate his mother or littermates in the area, Lisa knew Oscar would stay with her until he was fully healthy. Slowly, he blossomed into a charming, social puppy.
Oscar Begins Flourishing Into An Adorable Boy

With each passing day, Oscar became more confident, revealing his playful personality as he transformed into an adorable cuddlebug who adored belly rubs. His foster mom showered him with love and provided an array of toys for him to enjoy.

As Oscar recuperates, he will remain with his foster mom until he is healthy enough to start his search for a forever home. There’s no doubt that a puppy as sweet and loving as Oscar will find a family eager to cherish him for a lifetime.
