Heartbroken Pits Find Comfort in Each Other After Losing Their Dad in a Hiking Tragedy

Date:

No one can take the place of a dog’s owner, and on that fateful day, Tonka and Little P were shattered!

These two incredible Pitties faced the heartbreaking loss of their beloved companion, Kris, during a tragic hiking excursion in Colorado. After losing his balance on a cliff, Kris and his dogs fell to the canyon floor.

Incredibly, the dogs survived the fall, but their hearts shattered into countless pieces when they realized their owner was gone forever. For the first time in years, Tonka and Little P found themselves alone, relying on each other for comfort and hoping for the best.

Kris regarded Tonka and Little P as family. The three of them were inseparable, making sure to share every day together. Their lives were filled with adventures and joy, until one unfortunate trip changed it all.
The trio went for a hiking trip in Colorado with Kris’s friend, Mark, where they lost their way for two days.

In a bid to descend into the canyon for water, Kris accidentally lost his grip, causing both himself and the dogs to fall. Tragically, he died upon impact, while the dogs sustained multiple fractures.

“As they descended, with Kris holding onto TONKA and LITTLE P by his side, he lost his footing while attempting to save his dogs. All three fell to the canyon floor,” remarked Mr. Bones & Co. on Facebook.

Following the tragic event, the dogs were taken to a nearby shelter in Colorado, where Kris’s friend Mark stepped in. He did everything possible to reunite the dogs with Kris’s family in New York, unable to bear the thought of leaving them.

Upon learning of their heartbreaking tale, Mr. Bones & Co. quickly offered to assist with Little P and Tonka’s surgeries, as Kris’s parents were unable to manage the expenses alone. The team immediately took over to ensure both dogs received top-tier care.

Kris’s cousin, Crysti, decided to foster Little P post-surgery, while Tonka was placed in a different foster home. Even though it was the first time they had ever been apart, separation was necessary for their recovery.
