Heartbroken Dog Can’t Stop Crying After Being Left Behind by Her Family with All Her Belongings

Date:

As a woman named Bridget Blitsch strolled through the streets of Los Angeles, California, she stumbled upon an incredibly distressing sight.

A family, deeply upset, was attaching their German Shepherd-Malinois mix to a tree in an abandoned parking lot. They placed a muzzle around her snout and left a bag of dog food at her side before walking away slowly.

The dog appeared to be in a state of bewilderment, trying to understand what was happening. She likely believed they would quickly return from a brief outing.

Unfortunately, she quickly realized that wasn’t the reality.

A Heart-Wrenching Farewell

It didn’t take long for the dog to understand that her family was not returning. She began to weep, hoping her family would hear her distress and return.

Bridget, who witnessed the heartbreaking moment, reached out to Suzette Hall, the Founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, a rescue organization based in Irvine, California. Hall quickly made her way to the scene, hoping to offer solace to the precious pup.

“When you think your heart can’t break anymore, and then you see this. She didn’t know she would never see them again,” Hall expressed in an Instagram post.

While waiting for Hall to arrive, the pup, now named Melody, attempted to follow her family but remained tied to the tree. Fortunately, Blitsch intervened.

When the rescuer finally reached the location, she was so moved that her emotions took over.

“She was crying, Bridget was crying, I was crying. If Bridget hadn’t been in the right place at the right time, [Melody] would still be sitting there tied to the tree, unsure of where her family went,” Hall shared.

A Glimmer of Hope

Fortunately, the sweet pup warmed up to her rescuers quite quickly.

While showering Melody with hugs and kisses, she discovered something around her neck. Blitsch shared a heartbreaking detail.

As they were saying their farewells, her family had placed a necklace around her neck to keep a piece of them with her.

“I set the necklace on my seat after I dropped her off at the vet and looked over to find it had formed a heart on its own,” she remarked.

As Hall was transporting the pup to the nearest vet for an in-depth medical examination, she learned what had actually transpired with the family and the reason for leaving their dog behind.

“They had fallen into homelessness, and the shelter they were staying at had a policy against dogs, which meant they had to choose between their dog and the shelter. This innocent little creature did not deserve such a fate,” Hall wrote.

A few weeks later, Melody is thriving.

The rescuer secured her a wonderful foster home where she has been able to relax and move past her difficult experiences.

Melody’s new life is filled with joy and laughter, perfect for a special girl like her. Hall is confident that soon, she will find a forever home where she will be cherished and respected.

“We love you, sweetheart. We won’t break that pinky promise,” Hall concluded.
