As someone who experienced this firsthand, I was genuinely surprised to come across a TikTok video that mirrored an experience from my childhood, but with dogs!
The Canine Chief
I won’t sugarcoat it; the video I’m referencing is quite dramatic.
It shows a pair of dogs on high alert due to an upsetting situation occurring outside. A daunting excavator is tearing up their cherished backyard, preventing them from frolicking in the sunlight.
In an attempt to express their displeasure, the pups start barking at the machinery, warning it that they are prepared to defend their territory if it encroaches further.
Yet, their German Shepherd sibling was far from impressed!
Understanding that their owners had summoned the excavator to enhance their play area, he decided to maturely step in and instill some discipline.
He strolled over to his siblings and commanded them to settle down!
Initially, the puppies didn’t heed his words. However, when he positioned himself between them and the glass door, they finally understood!
Reassured, the two pups ceased their barking at the construction worker, allowing him to carry on with his duties peacefully, and I can only imagine how proud their German Shepherd brother felt, affirming his role as the true chief of the household.
The Orderly Overseers
One characteristic that stands out about German Shepherds is their affinity for order, alongside their loyalty and intelligence.
A prime example is their tendency to organize their toys meticulously. They either align them in an orderly fashion or designate a specific area for them, showing that they possess a clever system.
German Shepherds flourish on consistency. They appreciate having their walks, meals, and playtime follow a regular schedule. So, if you happen to overlook mealtime, don’t worry… they will ensure you remember.
Thanks to their remarkable intelligence, these dogs can recall where items belong. If they notice a remote control on the floor, they likely pick it up and return it to the table. If shoes are strewn about, German Shepherds may push them back to their rightful place.
