Our next tale revolves around Yogurt, a charming dog who has experienced the pain of family betrayal when her owners left her at a shelter simply because they no longer wanted her.
Meeting Yogurt
While working as an adoptions counselor at the Atlanta Humane Society in Georgia, Jamie encountered a couple who were surrendering their dog, Yogurt. They stated they no longer wanted her. Upon seeing the terrified pup, Jamie felt an immediate connection and decided she would adopt her.
“She was hunkered down looking like a scared little girl. I don’t know what it was. I just saw her and I was like, okay, this is my dog.”
Moving To Her Forever Home
Once at home, Jamie quickly observed that Yogurt needed to learn how to enjoy life as a dog. Having been kept outside by her previous owners, she had never been indoors. In her early days, the shy pup refused to eat from a bowl, so Jamie began placing her kibble on the floor until Yogurt finally warmed up to the bowl. Jamie also introduced her to her family’s dog to help her socialize, realizing that patience was key.
After a few months, Yogurt began to thrive. She started welcoming new people into her life, much to her mom’s delight. The transformed dog learned to roll on her back and enjoy the feeling of grass beneath her.
An Unbreakable Bond Between Yogurt And Her Mom
Yogurt and Jamie have developed a profound bond, providing unwavering support for each other.
“We’re probably a little too codependent on each other honestly…She’s been with me through a lot (of) the worst things that have happened to me. We both can have a little bit too much anxiety at times but we are both very good at grounding each other.”
While Yogurt might not be the cuddliest dog, she instinctively curls up next to Jamie whenever she senses her mom is feeling down, a gesture that signifies her solidarity. Jamie vowed that they would remain together forever.
“I love her unconditionally. Whatever happens with her, she’ll always be mine. I will love her for the rest of my life.”
Yogurt is now living her best life and radiates happiness, sharing her adventures on her Instagram account. She enjoys walks with her furry sibling Titan and has relocated with her family to Fort Collins, Colorado, where she thrives.
