Words cannot adequately convey the unfairness of abandoning dogs and making them feel unworthy of love. Four little Dogo Argentino puppies experienced deep sorrow and fear after being cold-heartedly dumped in a truck bed at night. Cold and starving, these innocent babies huddled together, yearning for warmth and comfort. Missing their mom, they began to yelp, longing for her protecting embrace, as they hoped to find compassionate humans who would show them they were deserving of love.
A Rescue Mission
That same evening, Alex Towers, a Georgia resident, was returning from the gym when he heard the unmistakable yelping of dogs. To his dismay, he found four malnourished Dogo Argentino puppies huddled in the bed of his truck; their sad eyes reflected desperation and fear. Upon seeing their protruding ribs, Towers immediately understood that they required urgent medical attention. He began making phone calls in search of a pet hospital that was open at night. After some effort, he and his girlfriend finally reached Veterinary Emergency Group in Brookhaven, Georgia, and swiftly drove the puppies there. The hospital staff promptly examined the pups and provided them with the necessary medical care, subsequently contacting DC Dogos Rescue, a Florida-based organization dedicated to helping Dogo Argentinos find loving homes. They assured that the puppies would be taken in.
The Rescue Takes The Pups In Their Care
The following morning, a local foster parent adopted the puppies, showering them with love and care. After a few days, a volunteer transported these precious puppies to the rescue farm in Tampa, where staff warmly welcomed them with open arms and plenty of cuddles. The puppies, closely bonded, often snuggled together; one of the volunteers even fell in love with one of the pups and decided to foster her.
Shortly after the arrival of the four pups, two more Dogo Argentino puppies were located in Atlanta. Rescued and brought to Tampa as well, they were found abandoned alongside the road, potentially part of the same litter. “Someone saw them off the sidewalk, off the side of the road. So clearly, they were just dumped there; they were the same age, eight weeks old,” Pamela Fay, executive director of DC Dogos Rescue, shared with PEOPLE.
All six puppies, estimated to be eight weeks old, underwent initial veterinary care and were deemed to have suffered significant neglect early in their lives, yet they were expected to fully recover. After some TLC, these adorable fur babies began to thrive, delighting the staff with their playful antics and joyful tail wags. The pups, named Crysta, Magi, Zak, Hexxus, Justin, and Joey, quickly captured the hearts of everyone around them.
Searching For A Home Filled With Love
The rescue is currently accepting adoption applications for these adorable pups. Once they recover fully, they will be ready to find their forever homes. Fay encourages potential adopters to thoroughly research the puppies’ breed, as they require “a lot of stimulation and exercise,” and invites anyone with questions about the Dogo Argentino puppies to reach out.
“They are some of the cutest puppies ever, and so people want to get them, and then they realize they’re too much. It’s a wonderful breed, but they’re just not for everybody. And so we tend to see them get dumped quite a bit once they hit maturity,” Fay added.
