Georgia Family Chooses to Surrender Their Beloved Dog Out of Boredom

Date:

All dogs crave boundless love from their owners to truly thrive and become happy canines. It is heartbreaking to hear stories of pups abandoned by their families, left feeling betrayed and alone, despite their worthiness of love and care. Our next story revolves around Yogurt, a delightful dog who knows this feeling all too well. She suffered the pain of betrayal when her owners left her at a shelter because they no longer wanted her.

Meeting Yogurt

Jamie was an adoptions counselor at the Atlanta Humane Society in Georgia when she encountered a couple surrendering their dog, Yogurt. They mentioned that they simply didn’t want her anymore. Upon seeing the frightened dog, Jamie felt an instant connection, stating, “She was hunkered down looking like a scared little girl. I just saw her and thought, okay, this is my dog.”

Moving To Her Forever Home

After bringing Yogurt home, Jamie quickly realized that the pup needed to learn how to be a dog, having only ever been a backyard dog. In her first days at Jamie’s house, Yogurt refused to eat from a bowl until Jamie left her kibble on the ground. With time, she grew accustomed to the bowl. Initially shy, Yogurt was taken to Jamie’s parents’ house to interact with their dog. Jamie was patient, allowing Yogurt to take the time she needed to feel comfortable. After a couple of months, Yogurt began to relax and enjoy meeting new people. Her transformation brought joy to Jamie’s mom, as the little dog finally embraced her true nature.

Yogurt learned to enjoy life, rolling on her back and happily sniffing the grass.

An Unbreakable Bond Between Yogurt And Her Mom

Yogurt and Jamie share a special bond, always supporting one another. “We’re probably a little too codependent on each other honestly…She’s been with me through a lot (of) the worst things that have happened to me. We both can have a little bit too much anxiety at times, but we are both very good at grounding each other,” Jamie reflects. Although not a cuddly pooch, Yogurt instinctively curls up next to Jamie whenever she senses her mom is upset, offering silent comfort. Jamie has promised Yogurt that they would always be together.

“I love her unconditionally. Whatever happens with her, she’ll always be mine. I will love her for the rest of my life.”

Yogurt now enjoys her best life and has never been happier, sharing updates about her adventures on her Instagram account. She loves going on walks with her furry sibling, Titan, and has moved with her family to Fort Collins, Colorado.

We are so thrilled to see Yogurt find the happiness she deserves in a loving family.
