How unfortunate does that sound?
Sadly, this is the painful reality for countless dogs who separate from their owners in the cruellest ways.
One such tale originates from California, where a petite, one-year-old pup was on the brink of devastation. Severely neglected and emaciated, little Reese found herself in a stuffed shelter, mere days away from being put down.
Through no fault of her own, she faced the bleakest fate – until she encountered her saviors!
Rescued Just in Time
After arriving at a local shelter, Reese shut down completely. Overwhelmed and frightened, all she longed for was a touch of kindness.
Thanks to the compassionate people at Wags and Walks Rescue in Los Angeles, California, her wish became a reality!
She was rescued in the nick of time, as the overcrowded shelter had no means to care for her or treat her numerous medical issues (and she had plenty).
At just one year old, Reese resembled a senior dog that had endured a tough existence. Her severe mange left her with open sores covering her body. As if that weren’t enough, she had an infected spot in her eye from a bite and was in a dire state of malnutrition.
“At just 1-year-old, Reese has faced unimaginable neglect. She is emaciated, battling advanced mange and infections,” W&W shared in an Instagram post.
Her rescuers were devastated upon witnessing Reese’s condition. She had faced neglect her entire life and it appeared she had never experienced the warmth of a caring human.
This compelled the entire team to intervene, and soon enough, they found the perfect foster home for her.
Now, She Sports the Trendiest PJs
The lovely couple, Walker and Rebecca, welcomed Reese into their home with open arms!
Thanks to the amazing local community who contributed to Reese’s healing journey, this brave girl improved remarkably in no time.
“She is safe with us now, and we are thrilled to report that she is recovering quickly, gaining weight, and on her way to full health! We are incredibly thankful for the ongoing support of this wonderful community and Reese’s fantastic foster family,” the rescue posted on Instagram.
As time went on, Reese transformed into a fashionista and the most adorable PJs model!
Initially, the pajamas served as a part of her recovery (to protect her skin), but Reese quickly captivated everyone with her stylish looks. And she certainly looked fabulous!
Rebecca and Walker showered this sweet girl with an array of trendy outfits, ensuring she won’t need to shop for clothes again (though I bet that won’t hold true!).
Additionally, she blossomed into the family’s affectionate cuddler, relishing the chance to snuggle in her humans’ laps and bask in all the love she had missed out on.
An Exciting Update
Just a few months after finding her caretakers, Reese was bestowed with the most precious gift!
An incredible family reached out to W&W, eager to provide this sweet girl with a forever home.
The rescue shared this wonderful news through an Instagram update, thrilling Reese’s vast community.
“Tonight she’s in her forever home with a loving family that adores her as much as she truly deserves,” they wrote.
Reese is now living her best life, surrounded by humans and a dog sibling who cherish her immensely. She gets to embark on countless exciting adventures without the fear of being abandoned again.
And the cherry on top? She continues to showcase her adorable outfits!
