Despite her charming nature, Cartier ended up in a shelter in New York City after her previous family decided they could no longer care for her.
Prior to her arrival at the shelter, they had confined her to her crate, dimming her once-vibrant spirit.
Yet, upon entering the New York City shelter, Cartier quickly stole the hearts of every staff member. They were enamored with her shy grin, perfectly shaped ears, and delightful personality.
Furthermore, they were thrilled when Rebound Hounds stepped in to rescue her, providing her the chance to find a caring foster home.
Finally With The Ones She Loves

When Katy Brink and her husband, Collin, visited the shelter, they instantly fell in love with her.
It was no shock when they decided to bring her home as a foster. Cartier was filled with gratitude; she kept her head on their shoulders throughout the entire journey home!
Since then, she has cherished being around her new humans, following them everywhere.

Sadly, there was a minor setback.
Cartier’s foster parents already had two dogs, Jake and Lola, and while they wished for them to coexist harmoniously, it wasn’t the case.
“She had previously lived with a small dog, but it became apparent early on that our dogs caused her stress, and she stressed them as well,” Collin remarked to The Dodo.
One Day At A Time
Each day, Cartier strives to adapt and bond with her foster siblings, and her training sessions contribute significantly to her progress.
When they’re not practicing in the yard, the dogs are kept separated in different areas of the house, which means Cartier often finds herself alone.
To keep an eye on her, her foster parents opted to install a puppy cam.
This allowed them to check in on her whenever she was by herself. However, they soon discovered that as soon as they closed the door, she would often do something adorably heart-wrenching.

“Whenever we left her alone, we could see her waiting by the door for us. It broke our hearts, especially knowing she spent so much time in a crate. She only wants to be your best friend and be part of anything you’re doing,” Collin shared.
Thus, the humans devised a plan to minimize the time this sweet girl spends alone.
Cartier now spends her days in the home office with one parent, while her foster siblings stay with the other. When the workday wraps up, she goes to her room while her humans enjoy some time with Jake and Lola.
But rest assured… during her brief alone time, Cartier has plenty of toys to keep her occupied and entertained.

At night, Cartier curls up with her foster parents on the sofa, feeling cherished and valued.
While this arrangement is working well, Cartier still needs to find a forever home!
Looking For A Home
Cartier has a deep affection for humans and enjoys being in their company. However, she prefers not to share them.
“She’s a total cuddle bug when it’s just us. She truly needs someone who doesn’t have other dogs and can dedicate their time to her,” Collin noted.
She enjoys taking leash walks and being outdoors but is equally content relaxing at home.
A calm environment would be ideal for this gentle soul, allowing her to genuinely unwind and feel at peace.
“She’s going to bring so much joy to her future family,” Brink concluded.
